So, REX is finally out for FS2004, which is with no doubt, the best environment add on ever, that hit FS. There is sooo many clouds, sky themes, rynways...but which one to use? I mean, there is to many combinations, but which one represent nature, by your opinion, most accurate. Here is mine, for now:Sky- Blue Dawn, Touch of Smog, Dreary3D clouds - Set 13Cirrus - Set 13Sun - SolarRight now i'm not at home, but it will be a good idea to put some picture if you can.Cheers, and happy landing everybody!

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

HelloGood idea, i would like to see some suggestions on water settings to achieve a less blue ocean

I agree great idea indeed, here's mine:1. Zinertek for the water textures (the best offered for FS9)2. Sky and evening textures are from Activesky 6.5 as that add-on offered the best background with a haze layer set that to me gives the best atmosphere feel to FS9.3. I use a freeware package here on Avsim the beefs up the default airport buildings which looks great at local airports. Zinertek again looks like it has something that does the same thing which looks pretty good. You can't have REX and default textures at 90% of the airports around the world (especially small GA airports). Beefing up the look of default airports adds allot to the sim as you can fly anywhere and it looks like life is there to some degree...REX or should I say everything else:1. If I was to use Rex's sky options this would be it: Dawn - 'Candy', Daytime - 'True Blue', Sunset - 'Simple'2. 3D clouds - Cumulus - '17 HD', Cirrus - '13 HD'3. Asphalt Runway - '17', Asphalt Taxiway - '05'4. Concrete Runway - '04', Concrete Taxiway - '06'5. Taxiway Markings - 'Scuffed'7. Sun - 'Heat'8. Flare - 'Glitter'9. Lightening - 'Elmos Fire'10. Landing lights I kept unchecked as I didn't want add-ons like Dreamfleet's 727 to have weaker landing lights because it relied on what the default luminance was.11. Aircraft Strobes - 'Intense' 12. Runway Light's - 'Guidance'There's a 'Pitch Black Night' option that I wouldn't recommend. In real night conditions your eyes adjust as everyone knows where it's no difficult to see around something like a cockpit especially when you have subtle lighting from the gauges. Yes, you would have to use more lighting to read materials but for basic flight yours eyes adjust in real life to something like what MS's default night environment luminance gives you. These settings work best for me. It'll be interesting to hear what setup others have and we can all find common settings that give us the best bang for our buck...

I'm surprised this thread hasn't taken off. There's some good info that could be shared by those like myself that's found a sweet spot with this add-on.

Yeah me to. Just couple days ago, everyone was like "oh my god REX...WOW!!!". Now it seems that no one want to share their favourite combination.

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

Hello dillonI have the clouds sorted out now in Rex2004 with a few sets that match various european weather scenariosFor the skys I am using SL Realsky pro or Active sky graphics which are better/more subtle than REX IMHObut the water eludes me , here in the Uk we are surrounded by seas which at the best of times are more graythan blue.I am slowly experimenting with the water sliders but still getting either too much blue or green.

I'm still fighting with Active Sky 6.5, it just want to make those clouds look beautiful. Some of them are stretched, some of them are squeezed...

Hello,Here are my 5 cents... REXfs9 is the newest member of my environment family, consisting of Active Sky 6.5, GE Pro II and Real Evironment Pro, the freeware forerunner of REX, coming from the same 'stable' I think. For clouds I thusfar used the excellent cumulus/cirrus by Pablo Diaz. REX is indeed a spectacular enhancement, especially the clouds. Moreover it is absolutely stunning, as Les already mentioned somewhere, that it is also a performance boost, even with clouds in full HD and without DXT3 checked, and all that on my 'humble' system. I agree with Mad Dog that the water is too blue for European conditions, so I replaced the water textures with the ones from the Real Evironment Pro package (dark water with nice cloud reflections and subtle wave movement).Having tried Les' preferences, I find 'Realistic' for the sky colour more suitable for the (North) Western European situation than True Blue. As for the cumulus setting: For the time being I prefer '02', which very well reflects weather conditions in my part of the world, certainly in this season.Kind regards,Ren

HelloI am trying for something like this:

Here is what I have got so far with Rex2004, still some way to go

@ Gatesession: I'm not sure whether I fully understand the question. I'm not much of a 'nightflyer' in the first place and haven't done any nightflying with the REX water textures. If you refer to Real Environment Pro water: Cannot remember to have seen that, but then I rarely fly with a clear sky....Regards,Ren

Look promising, with "touch of smog sky" and Cumulus 59...but still, need more white/gray sky for Europe in winter.29061753.jpg
