Nvidia appears to be ignoring 7800GT/GTX simmers...

Hi Rob,I have 2x XFX GeForce 7800GTX 512mb Extreme XXX EditionI am still using the 78.01 drivers but have been able to set most of your settings except:Under SLI rendering mode I only have SLI multi-GPU rendering or SLI single-GPU renderingUnder AA I only have up to 8xSI have set the rendering mode to multi_GPU and AA to 8xS and FS9 still works ok in windowed and full-screen, However I can only set the clock speeds to 580MHz and 1.2GHz. If I set the memory higher it fails the "Test Changes" test (with the 81.95 drivers it past the test)I initially loaded the drivers from the XFX CD and subsequently loaded the 81.95 drivers from nVidia. I had problems with both sets.Do you think I should now be able to load the 81.95 drivers?George

Have to go out now, but you should be able to find the GPU and Memory values in your registry -- just use regedit. I'll give you more details when I return if you can't find the settings. Can you elaborate what you mean by "I had problems with both sets" -- are you refering to a problem during installation or that both drivers show the same problem in FS9?I didn't install my manufacturers drivers at all -- I just went with nVidia 81.95 drivers. With the 78.01 drivers you'll not get the additional SLI settings you need -- for FS9.1 to work you have to set SLI Render mode = SLI Antialiasing. This is the only mode that works for me and nVidia also confirmed this with me via EMail.Rob.

Rob,The problems I had were ground texture displacement and total inability to run in full-screen mode. It's midnight here at the moment, I will try re-installing the 81.95 drivers in the morning. Thanks again,George

Please tell me if anyone else has got this to work...I have dual 7800 GTXOC 256 cards running 3 monitors. The last driver version that I can run with FS that doesn't lock up my entire system is the 78.05. ANY of the 80.x series drivers immediately cause a full h/w lockup requiring a reboot when I alt-ent to return to full screen after dragging my windows... Has anyone been able to get anything after the 78.05 to work with multiple cards non-sli?Looking for an answer...Amazing to think I spent $1000 on video cards alone and the developers can't give me a driver that works properly!!!Thanks all,-Paul

Hi, I have 7800GTX (2X 256MB)with the 77.77 drivers and I am using SLI Rendering = SLI Antiliasing in one of my FS9 game profiles.I just followed the instructions at the nVidia website for using coolbits and activating the SLI options. So Rob why do you say that you wont be able to do this unless you have the 81.95 drivers? Mine is working perfectly in both Window and fullscreen except for the inability to see aircraft in the example window in fullscreen plus the fact that activation of the kneeboard in fullscreen blacks out the lower half of the screen. I must admit I do not see much difference between using this profile and the one in which SLI rendering = predefined (read only) with ANtiliasing at 8S and AA at 16X. Frame rates are about the same as are the quality of the graphics which tempts me to suggest that FS9 is not particularly ammenable to SLI. My attempts with the 80+ drivers have not been successful and I wait for you more adventurous guys to solve the problems. My system is a Dell XPS 600 Pentium Extreme EditionHoward

For what it's worth...I found a 82.04 beta version over at Guru3D. This version was originally for the GoForce series (laptop stuff) but the ini file had been hacked to allow install of all GeForce cards.I created a restore point and installed these drivers (after removing my 81.95's). No problems with the install..I saw the same things, including SLI, that I saw with the 81.95's.However, there was no difference. Still had severe corruption. So, I can take this two ways...either the upcoming 81.98 beta release isn't going to fix anything if thier 82.04 betas don't or the 82.04, being a primarily GoForce (laptop) release didn't focus on fixing anything GeForce (desktop) and I wasted my time anyway. Here's hoping for the later. Oh, and the 81.98's aren't out yet.

There's an Nvidia beta tester on Nvnews basically saying it's not fixed and asking for screenshots of the problem - I am absolutely going to scream if they now start claiming they didn't know about the issue. There's been posts on their own forum at Nzone since October about this and I spammed all the major forums with screens and an explanation over a month ago.Finger is on the Sapphire X1800XT trigger at newegg...

Frankly, Ryan, here's hoping you are wrong. I bought I nice new SLI mobo and would hate to have to buy an ATi (though I have always liked them since the 8500) and then want to go back to an SLI configuration when (and if) FS10 comes out.

It would be very simple for Nvidia to put out a patch for our problem. All they would have to do is say install this patch if you are having a texture program with the 80 series drives. They have received loads of email from card makers and from the public on this issue since the making of the 80 series driver. They have just have chosen to ignore the problem and hope it will go away. This started back in Oct. ....we are coming up on Jan. 2006.....how long does it take to fix this..Mike

I f you guys wanna just fly with no texture problems instead of being grounded till the Nvidia tirds come out with a fix. George sent me this file and if you install the 78.01 drivers on open this file and do a drop and drag it will let you install these drivers on the new boards....Mike George's instructions: Here is how to get the 78.01 drivers to load. Use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall your current drivers. Then right-click on 78.01_winxp2k_english_whql.exe and select "Open with Winzip". Extract all files to a temporary folder then copy the attached nv4_disp.inf to overwrite what is already there. Now, open the readme.txt and follow the installation instructions. You should see your FX7800 GTX at step 15. As I said, FS9 works fine, the only thing I couldn't do was to set the clock speeds to those specified by XFX. George

Howard,nVidia didn't start addressing SLI & FS9.1 issues til the 80's series drivers that why I don't think 70's series drivers actually do anything. You should see a difference in 4X vs SLI16X, also if you use the FS9.1 default profile you should have NO issues at all with keeboard, or inability to see aircraft at the create a flight sceen. Only when using SLI Rendering = SLI Antiliasing.I agree FS9 is NOT ammenable to SLI and the only form of accelerationg nVidia are "supporting" is SLI rendering = SLI antialiasing which is why you don't see any frame rate changes from 4X to SLI16X -- if you tried to run 16X AA on a single card you would see a frame rate hit at the higher screen resolutions.Dell XPS600 supports SLI?Rob.

Hi Rob,When I installed the 81.95 drivers I didn't have any profiles. Is there anwhere I can download these separately?George

George,The performance profiles are including with the 81.95 drivers -- nVidia actually updated the same 81.95 drivers recently to include more profiles. You don't see any? Not even the Global Profile? Did you do a complete clean uninstall of all your prior drivers? You might want to use this info: http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_4.htmlto do a full removal of nVidia drivers.Rob.

Ok there appears to be hope yet:The bug has been logged with Nvidia's database and a new folder has appeared on the ftp for an 82.12 beta set (in addition to the new 81.98 WHQL set) and both will be released together. Hope is that the 82 beta will have the fix for this...

I've just read some disturbing news in the most recent download of the Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe manual:"Due to NVidia nForce4 SLI x16 chipset limitations, this motherboard does not support two dual-GPU graphics cards (total 4GPUs) running in SLI mode."This wasn't in the printed manual supplied with the motherboard. Have I wasted my money buying two FX7800 GTX cards?George
