Flight Planning

Hi allI have been flightsimming for a number of years, but i have never taken it really seriously, and fly all my routes direct from arrival airport to departure airport...Can someone tell me what the need for a flightplan that covers many different waypoints, and usually takes detours from the quickest route... Is it due to weather? Are there certain routes jet aircraft have to take to avoid cities? Are all flightplans the same for the same route, or do they varie from day to day?DO planes ever fly direct, in a straight line, not following waypoints?Many thanksRichard

Hi,next leg of my sons gap year, Bangkok to Bali. First part was a 744 of SQ from Bangkok to Singapore. And second from Changi to Bali Intl. a Boeing 772 of Singapore Airlines. Could someone please post one or two flightplans that come close to the company routes?Thanks Hans

Hi there,Can anyone tell me were I can:a) Find real world weather reports and predictions so that I have as much WX info that real airline pilots do for my longhaul flights and,:( Which flight planning software do you recomend? It must be able to show me airways, be able to create waypoints anyware I want them (for NAT PLOTS) and must be able to export this to Radar Contact. Fuel predictions would be great as well but they MUST be accurate!!!!!!Also, being easy to use would be a bonus, and if the printouts looked professional that would be great also!Thanks for your helpric
