In my latest Let's Fly videos, I've recreated a real flight - TAM flight 3925 from Santos-Dumont International, Rio de Janeiro, to Congonhas Regional, Sao Paolo. Episode 09 - Blame it on Rio Episode 10 - Runway Thirty-Five-Wrong Although it may be hard to believe, I am genuinely trying to improve my virtual piloting skills in these videos, and I'm certain that in addition to the mistakes that I highlight, I'm sure there's a whole lot of room for improvement. In the latest video, I take Dino Cattaneo's fantastic freeware T-45 Goshawk out for a spin around Patuxent River NAS. Mr Cattaneo's put together a fantastic little package. The aircraft looks great inside and out, flys well and complains when you abuse it. The manual is based on real-world pilot documentation. The only criticism I have is that it could do with a cut-down "cheat sheet" which just detailed the steps needed to fly in the sim, rather than having to wade through page after page of real-world system descriptions, many of which end with the sentence "This system is not modelled in FSX". If you're an internet savvy flight-simmer, the video title gives a clue to what this video is about. The sun was shining, I had the day free, so I went and spent the day at the Airport Hotel on Ringway Road, Manchester(UK) with its viewing garden overlooking the end of runway 23. From a simming perspective I found it incredibly useful. Just from watching I picked up a few pointers that I hope will improve my abysmal taxiing, and I noticed a couple of interesting procedures that will change the way I sim (for example, pretty much every plane I saw performed a rolling take-off rather than pausing once lined up.) So, after hours upon hours of work I have my first video using the EZDok external camera. I know there are several issues (for example the QualityWings GPU that magically locked itself to the aircraft while rendering with FSRecorder, or the random shaking attacks), although I hope you ultimately enjoy the video! And more importantly enabled me to push all sliders (except water) to max! Here is what I did, I already have the HIMEMFIX enabled and I am running in DX10 (Use the AVSIM Guide). There are no scenery addons i.e. no Orbx or GEX. I just added these lines to config:- [bufferPools] BufferPools=1 PoolSize=490000000 RejectThreshold=524288 [TERRAIN] TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=800 TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000
