Lizard Island is an island on the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland (Australia), 1624 km northwest of Brisbane and part of the Lizard Island Group that also includes Palfrey Island. It is part of the Lizard Island National Park and is within the locality of Lizard in the Cook Shire. The name Lizard Island was given to it by Captain Cook when he passed it on August 12, 1770. One of our favorite places to visit is Paro, Bhutan which is in the Eastern Himalayas. The small land locked country is only 40,000 sq/km in size which is only slightly larger than Vancouver Island. Paro International Airport is surrounded by Himalayan Peaks reaching as high as 18,000ft.
