It is the highest mountain in Africa, with its summit about 4,900 meters (16,100 ft) from its base, and 5,895 meters (19,341 ft) above sea level. For the August and September monthly challenges we will be flying the shortest regularly scheduled flights with the two heaviest airliners; the Boeing 747-400 and the Airbus A380-800 which are available to all pilots regardless of ran, but only for the challenge. These flights are single leg scheduled flights and not a stopover or short hop as part of a longer route. This month, we fly the shortest scheduled flight for the Boeing 747. On July 20th, 1969 which is 50 years ago this month, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin went where no one man has gone before, becoming the first humans to land and walking on a foreign spatial body. Michael Collins flew the command module Columbia alone in lunar orbit while they were on the Moon's surface. Collins is the one person that most people forget about as he made history that day becoming the first solo crew of a spacecraft outside of Earth orbit for 21 hours while Armstrong and Aldrin were on the lunar surface.
