Variations of this joke has been going around for years.. Just to keep things in perspective - this term is loosely associated with American slang and I sincerely doubt if it was ever used in this manner , that the Japanese, if they understood the link, would have politely ignored it. I find most of this style of jokes have a link to inherent western colonialism and rascism ... and really do not now feel comfortable with any reference to them. I still cringe when at 18-19 years of age as a navy rating, we toured Japan in 1968 with our SEATO Frigate and on shore leave used such terms as Ngasaki Bomb and Horishima bomb when describing those cities still recovering, as a sort of in house joke because we spoke no Japanese . I now feel an enormous amount of guilt at my juvenile stupidity and lack of sensitivity .

My personal past experience with TFDI is that they oversold product and didn't deliver fully with the 717. (for whatever reason). If the MSFS 2024 version of the TFDI MD11 now meets consumer satisfaction then good!! I might consider a purchase , But I am not buying the 2020 version to fiddle with installing the 2024 upgrade.

My two cents; Inibuilds can manage to update the A350 multiple times to get it right. Whether this product is budget or not - I would think personally, that fixing glaring bugs would mean a lot for those who bought this product. Imagine if you bought a set of Solar powered christmas lights at a discount and they only partially worked .. you bought.. it tough luck - buyer beware. I don't believe Inibuilds would approach things this way. I bought this and do enjoy it, but it does have odd behavior that i believe is not part of the normal behavior according to Japanese manuals i have seen - so should be looked at .

When a flight goes well, I really , really enjoy the PMDG 737 - but so many odd quirks can get annoying. The 2nd cargo hold luggage loader will sometimes not disconnect - nothing I do will get it to move (no, I am not using GSX) resulting in a restart. Sometimes the throttle rudder stops working unexpectedly and the foot peddles suddenly work instead - ?? Using 4x speed on a long flight - crash to desktop with a memory error?? (memory checking on my system shows the 4 x 16Gb Ram sticks are fine but they are DDR 4 not DDR 5 - this one is particularly upsetting on a great start to the flight - only to have the CTD when halfway through the journey. Sometimes the side Display is missing and no amount of searching through the PMDG setups allows me to turn it on - restart the Simulator and it is there!!? I can assume here that some of you reading this will tell me my system is flaky maybe.. I have the tools to runs lots of test and so far there is no issues reported. (Win 11, 5080 Nvidia card with 16Gbs ram, 64 Gbs of DDR 4 ram in the system, Steel legend MB (Dated admittedly) with an AMD Ryzen 5900x Processor (not overclocked))

And here is the crux of the matter - My internet connection is the best I can get locally but I prefer to download the plane (aka NAMC Y11) cockpit refresh takes as much as 5 seconds to redraw sometimes.

Yes it downloads but the moment you try to install it fails - I have tried this operation multiple times by re downloading and trying to install again - it keeps saying installation failed. That is enough time spent for me - I will just leave it streamed for now

Same experience for me - will not install after I downloaded the update.

Okay Update, when i took out the Fenix it too was seamless until approximately 7 miles South of the airport climbing out, then the FPS dropped by half to 32 FPS. The difference is that the Fenix recovered once I was en route to 60 FPS..

WSSS - Its the original 2020 version which works on 2024. This may be the cause - not sure. More testing to be done and if necessary, and upgrade will have to be made if it is the Airport. I have to do further testing with different aircraft once I have time.. And Yes, I meant the Inibuilds a340, Sorry

I installed the payware version of WSSS (Changi , Singapore) and while on the ground , configuring the FMS , everything stays steady at around 58-60 FPS. Taxi and and takeoff plunges the FPS to 8-12 FPS. It never recovers the whole flight. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but I have tried this flight with 2 different variations of the A340 and also at night and during the day with live weather . My MSFS 2024 is installed via Steam onto a SD drive, which has about 175 GB remaining before it is full. Be interested to know if anyone else is experiencing this

Trouble configuring the throttles I seem to having issues configuring the Thrustmaster throttles so they ignore reverse settings - There is no OIS to custom configure them in the NAMC

The Biggest Ice festival city in the world - Harbin - One of the most Northern cities of China (population around 2.4 million) - will show seasonal festivities Dec to Feb -- I am not affiliated with Samscene3d, but this developer consistently brings great scenery the flight Sim platform I for one am pleased this airport and city will be given the makeover as MSFS 2020/ 2024 just shows generic layout and generic buildings. and was completely unrealistic - the terminals were not Reflective of the airport and its layout at all. Visited this place in July 2023 and loved it - The Architecture is a mix of Japanese , Russian , German and Chinese style (which reflects the 19th and 20th century turmoil's the city endured) , plus it includes the Russian orthodox cathedral and the sky tower - ( When I was there the base of the sky tower had a flight sim school and I paid for an hour in a mockup of a working Comac 919 Simulator - Also included 738 and Censsa 172 simulators ) - these are now all showing as represented. As well as the Iconic waterfront and beautiful bridges - looking forward to its release

I quite agree that Bing Maps should be updated and hopefully wil be in 2024 using the very latest aerial imagery. However i am still a little sceptical that Asia will again be ignored and instead we will have automated AI interpolation. I know it is possible to have very high resolution mapping for this whole area and the Map enhancer App certainly seems to prove this. As for negotiated rights to use this maps..well whose is to know the real reasons other than Microsoft and. Asobo

While I absolutely support and look forward to 2024 l am more careful of the enthusiasm of the initial previews here from people or attendees who are invited by Asobo and Microsoft in a controlled environment , and naturally am going to have to treat all of their pre-reviews with some caution. Areas that need mention are compatibility with current add ons and how will that be handled by the sim.Aircraft duplication lliveries, and ease of install.. So Ignoring some of the over excited comments, i look forward to more in depth reviews in the future because i, like all of us probably, want this updated version to succeed.

In the FMS.. Under maintenance normal and . X2 are an option

I usually purchase samscene 3d scenery with airports, or the other crowd that did Hong kong and shanghai. (WF). I don't fly to smaller airports in china, just cities hubs.. But i understand exactly what you mean. I can recall routing the 738 to one large city only to arrive and find absolutely no stock airport.. Just a blank patch where it should have been. Subsequently i purchased the samscene 3d airport for this city. (Using the Internet i can usually find some Navdata for approaches). This of course does cost money and frankly i am pretty annoyed the stock msfs so poorly underrepresents this aviation area.. However wirh map enhancer, and 3rd party contributions i can at least get a decent experience. But not all airports are addressed in this manner so Flightsim.to is where you can usually find enhancements on some of the lesser known airports

I did have the 717 years ago by TFDI and from memory it did fly well but there was a couple of issues with it that never were resolved as far as I am aware.. (can't remember specifics) but to be fair to TDFI, they were attentive and responsive . And as for the dc10.. I would love to have this (had PMDG's offering a few years ago and loved the AUTOPILOT and FMC).. Was actually considering this purchase but by the time you convert 69.90 or 80.00 into my local currency it is close it 115.00, or 131.00...so like similar priced offerings, it is a no go for me at this stage as the flying frequency vs finances equation comes into play.

Keith, I have managed to work around this issue by disabling the line Under the FSX.CFG [scenery] section the line ShowMissingTextureAlert=1 and change this to a 0. (thanks to Nick over at SOH) while this doesn't resolve the issue it does take away the constant alert box you must respond to. So far this change has made little impact as all textures seem in place so nothing appears to be missing when the airplane loads. I have explored the file association link for DDS and JPG ending files and on my system noted that DDS files seen as not associated to any programme. I changed a DDS file to associate to MSPAINT and this worked for all DDS files As it stands at the moment - I am not having any further issues. (touch wood)

Twenty6 - yes using FSX Acceleration - and again thanks for your reply - still working on this - it is beginning to look like a total reinstall yet again - and I have been avoiding this as thru one cause and another I have had to reinstall FSX twice in the past year and it is a time consuming task with all those add ons.....

Hi Twenty6 - these are not crash to desktop issues by the way, simply warnings everytime you load an aircraft of missing DDS or texture files - even after uninstalling and reinstalling the aircraft, I still get these issues - but hey, I will look at the PDF anyway, so thanks for the tip

Well I appreciate that this should have started in windows 10 section, but in moving here I feel It will get a lot less exposure

Ever since I have upgraded to windows 10 64 bit I have been having missing Texture or DDS files each time i loaded aircraft. The worst offenders appear to be Just flight models such as the F27, DC8, etc but even A2A Commache comes up with $650 Missing Gauge (i use the 750 Flight 1 gauge not the 650) ?? To date, I have uninstalled and reinstalled aircraft - uninstalled Nvidia Drivers and done a complete clean and reinstall of the latest NVidia drivers, switched back to DX9 from DX10 Fixer - all to no avail I would really appreciate any pointers as to how to fix this as it is driving me crazy. I have read some suggestions such as fresh install of windows 10 or going back to windows 7 - (not practicable) or upgrading my video drivers (done)...

Paradox indeed. I have FSX Acceleration, resisted Dovetails efforts, and resisted P3D - but will look hard at it if they migrate to 64bit. I just don't like the approach they take with regards to paying all over again each time there is a change. You can argue that one till the cows come home but that is just my opinion. X Plane - though I rarely use it as the control interface infuriates me (why can't I code the keys to be the same as FSX) and Aerofly 2.which is still an Alpha so I will resist buying any DLC until they get a little further in. That is the extent of my investment in flight simulators and frankly FSX gives me enough pain to not wish to advance further with things like AS16 when I have ASN which works fine. I have UT2 and My traffic 6. I uninstalled My traffic 6 and UT2 because of on going issues - I also have Orbx and have spent a fortune over the years with them. For FSX I have stopped purchasing aircraft and scenery for now - I realized I wasn't taking advantage of all the scenery I have bought and neither the aircraft. I might get limited usage out of a new aircraft before moving onto the next one..this was making a hole in my bank balance that is unecssary. In effect I am no longer swooned by the latest add on or DLC any longer - so consider me burnt out as of the moment - sorry Developers - you have had my wallet, pants and mortgage - now it is someone elses turn
