WINCTRL PFP 3N with PMDG 737-900 MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

Anybody using Mobiflight software to control the WINCTRL PFP 3N/PMDG 737-900/MSFS 2024?

I have used WINCTRL SimAppPro exclusively, and according to SimAppPro release notes in the app ver 1.16.89.0 was the first version to support PFP 3N with PMDG 737-900 (current version is 1.16.91.0 beta). I have never successfully flown the -900 in 2024 with SimAppPro- every time I try to load a flight MSFS crashes with a popup that MSFS needs to close. Works perfectly with PMDG 737-800.

I am considering trying MobiFlight and curious how difficult it is to setup and whether it's compatible with the -900?

Michael,

Great minds think alike - Last night I bit the bullet, installed MobiFlight, and downloaded the very profile you recommend.

Am I to assume you use MobiFlight as the interface for WINCTRL hardware?

I’m using SimAppPro but never experienced a crash with PMDG 737-9 and WinCTRL.  I responded to your email with MSFS .xml controller profile and some of the “missing” issues.  I do recall that I needed to update one of my add-on products using older .NET 4.8 or .NET 8 to .NET 10 … didn’t crash the sim, but I did get a crash warning dialog on exit of MSFS 2024.

I have MobiFlight installed but not sure if on version 11 (I think so).  Also have the latest registered FSUIPC installed.  About the only oddity I’ve encountered since my WinCTRL installation is my MSFS 2024 startup times went from a few seconds to 3 minutes!  I haven’t set aside time to discover the root issue yet … let me know how you do with MobiFlight.

My limited understanding of MobiFlight is it bypasses USB device input so no need to set/use any MSFS profile.  I don’t know if Mobiflight has a “detection” tool similar to GoFlight interface tool (GIT) as I have not spent much time with it yet.  It has a WASM module as part of the tool and works well with Arduino boards (which I assume is what lives in the WinCTRL units).

Some times. Usually with PMDG as i havent got so much Winctrl hardware yet for it.

It seems my CPU also is using less with Mobiflight.

So I did some research on MobiFlight 11 my experience so far:

1.  It seems WinCTRL devices are NOT Arduino based and MobiFlight is more an Arduino support tool.

2.  Can’t run WinCTRL SimAppPro and MobiFlight 11 together, this seems like a huge limitation and I need to do more testing.  Why this IS a big deal is that it means that I can’t have SimAppPro manage my 3N and 3M PDC (737 EFIS), nor my Auto Pilot 3 (737) nor my PFP 3N (FMC 737) … which work perfectly well in MSFS 2024 with PMDG 737 series.  I really only wanted MobiFlight to manage my WinCTRL 32 AGP, 32 PAC, and URSA Minor 32 Throttle (no idea why WinCTRL have “32” designator and other odd model names).

3.  MobiFlight requires installation of Python (would have preferred a .NET solution and leverage C# … but not a big deal).

So far, I could NOT find the “Detective” option for MobiFlight 11 ?  Maybe I’m missing something obvious, but I was expecting to see a message event queue of simEvents and simVars from MSFS 2024 that I could then capture and use in the knob/switch assignments to emulate. This is how GoFlight Interface Tool worked for FSX/P3D/XP, filter out events to isolate the event/simVars based on actual sim cockpit interaction, then assign the event(s) or simVars as needed to emulate the same action from a knob/switch on one’s device.  Made a tutorial video on GIT many years ago:

I was sorta expecting something similar with MobiFlight but I can’t seem to locate a “Detective” mode or similar?  Thoughts?

Don’t take this the wrong way, MobiFlight is free and being supported and clearly has some great features.

I have ZERO issues using MF and SAP together. All my PMDG planes for example. MF for FCU/EFIS. SAP for MCDU. Lots of help available on MF discord. Good luck. Blue skies,

See 1:20 min into video, suggest can’t use both … I guess I’ll have to try and see if they both play well together.
