May 4, 20251 yr This is one of the reasons why MSFS 2024 takes flight simulation to the next level, especially closer to ground level. This person recreated a Cessna 172 deadstick landing in MSFS 2024, based on the real life video of the same deadstick landing (the real life video is on the top left and top right, and appears about 8 seconds into the video): It's really impressive when you compare it against the real life video. Ultimately, we all want our fight simulator of choice to be as realistic as possible. IMO, MSFS 2024 with the improved ground terrain, with the improved ground physics because of rocks/boulders strewn across the entire world, and the improved flight dynamics, it makes it much more realistic when this is created in MSFS 2024. And while in this particular scenery, there aren't really any large rocks or boulders lying around, if you attempt a dead stick landing in other locations in MSFS 2024 where there are large rocks and boulders lying around, those large rocks and boulders can flip your plane over, so it's interesting to practice a dead stick landing in those areas. Together with new ground physics & flight dynamics it has made GA flying more authentic. In 2020 you can land virtually anywhere without trees, but a practiced force landing in 2024 requires the same consideration as IRL. I think below 1000 feet, MSFS 2024 is the most realistic flight simulator out there. It's really great for low level GA flying. If they can fix the bugs and the rest of the 2020 add-ons get ported over, MSFS 2024 will turn out to be the best civilian flight sim, IMO. While I much appreciate the new ground handling physics for airliners/heavies to smaller aircraft on runways, when it is paired with the highly increased terrain details (detailed enough to model wheels<->ground collisions/interactions in 3D) where it really shines is "off-runway" landings/take-offs/taxiing as it were. 2024 is a bush and GA flyer's dream. May 5, 20251 yr Amazing video, great airmanship from the RL pilot, and, indeed great ground mesh effects in FS 2024 ! As a glider pilot IRL, and having out-landed a few times 😝 I can say that in MSFS 2024 the experience is probably the best I have had in a desktop flightsim, including Condorsoaring which is the best soaring simulator available still today! There is yet another aspect of ground physics, when it comes to gliders in FS 2024, that I find well modelled - landing rollout distance and wind-cock effect as you lose speed and rudder authority. In FS 2024, better than in any other sim I have used, this is very acceptably modelled. Yup, the off runway landings (ie. landing on non paved runways), has hugely increased the realism of MSFS 2024. I'm really liking the increased ground physics realism. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
