which changes did you do which lead to 5fps performance loss? I am curious and if you share, I would test it also

actually, after testing, it was a ~10 FPS loss. I got rid of the 2 presets, set PPT/EDC/TDC to 162000/120000/18000, disabled the PBO Scalar, set the offset to "per core" and did a -10 on all except for my 2 most stable cores, those are set to -15. These are quick and dirty till I do some more in depth stress testing.

Yes CCD 0 and CCD1. But the CCD0 Chip Cores are Overclockable. With Curve optimizer set to negatives it hits easily 5.7 GhZ on the Cache Cores, wich are all the 12 cores. So you are able to get this 128 L3 (2x64 MB) cache AND high clock speeds.

My 7900X3D had 64 MB cache on the second CCD chiplet, called CCD1, and flightsim but there was no cache on that chiplet. Now, with 2x64 MB cache spreaded over 2 Chiplet, CCD0 and CCD1, you always use cache cores and are able to use high clock speeds.

So here is where I get confused. Marcus further down the thread you said that with MSFS that you could see 6 parked cores when it was in focus. So is MSFS effectively only running on 6 cores? That is 2 less than my 7800x3d, although you are running at a higher frequency.

If I were to invest in upgrading the CPU, would a 9950x3d make more sense as with MSFS cores parked it would utilise 8 cores.

Is there some reason the 9900x3d is considered a better choice?

I misread initially, I am actually wondering the same thing now considering I'm using the 9950x3D and he's getting far better performance. Though it could be something on my end. I'm hoping someone else that gets a 9950x3D can chime in.

Core parking is active. I checked that with the 7900x3d already but will recheck it. Via the resource monitor I see the 6 parked cores when MSFS is in focus on the first 6 cores.

What have you actived in the Bios at the CPPC (dynamic preferred cores) setting? Driver, Cache or Auto?

Driver, but I had windows already installed and I switched from a Intel cpu to AMD. So I had to setup everything manually. If you built your system from a new windows install, then leaving at auto will turn on core parking.

I figured out the issue! But I have no idea how to solve it, and i've been banging my head against my yoke for the past 5 hours trying to figure it out. My CPU isn't getting to its rated frequencies. RTSS is displaying incorrect information, but when viewd in HwInfo, when in the sim, my CPU is only going to 4.8GHz max. I think this may have happened with my 7950x3D as well, but I can't remember how I managed to fix it....

I use Asus AI suite to control my cpu throttling from 3.5 to 5.7.

You need a mic or type the text and send it of (text stead of speech).

But I would use a mic....it's highly recommended, if you are able to use one and circumstances allow it.

At the taskbar performance page, I see only the first half of my there shown 24 threads active and the second half is not used, these are the parked ones, wich I checked at the ressources page of Windows.

Can't you reset you BIOS to stock settings completely and then check if the cores are utilized to the max frequency?  Should be 5.7 in your case.

And then start with expo profile and PBO curve optimizing after you checked all cores running correctly af higher clock speeds

@mpo910 do you think you can take some screenshots of the Dubai scenario with the A320 in FS24 with your FPS and other metrics available to see? It'd also be nice to see your MSFS settings as well.

Thanks for the comparison.  I'm now really excited to be upgrading my 5950X to a 9950 or 9800X3D (haven't decided which yet).  Have had the 4090 for a while now and not planning to upgrade it for at least a generation still.  I might have missed a reply about drivers vs re-install for the core parking, but JayzTwoCents just did a video last week on it with his 9950X3D because new AMD drivers are supposed to make the required OS level changes to enable it and he verified it was indeed working correctly.  He did a before/after of testing core parking with the previous drivers on his test rig and then updating to the latest BIOS/Agesa changes and the latest drivers.  It was "mostly" parking correctly before actually and was rock solid on just CCD 0 after.

Hi. I could if I had the time. My previous test session took me one hour to setup, and writing down the numbers excl. Posting here.

As my sparetime is little...I prefer flying over loosing to many time at trying out.

Why would pictures help you by the way?

So I can see what your system is doing. The numbers you've posted seem really implausible. I've been following these chips and their performance closely, and you must have hit the jackpot. I'd like to see the numbers from "Dev Mode" because other systems with your setup are nowhere near your numbers. A picture of your settings would also show if there's something else going on. For example, if I enable "dynamic performance" in the options, I can achieve your numbers as well...that's because the TLOD isn't really at 200, but acting as a native AutoFPS. I'm very eager to see how your system is performing, because if it is performing that well, I'd like to push mine even further.  You may have inadvertently "found" something that could benefit other people with 99xx CPUs.
