January 7, 20251 yr Does it depict better looking clouds and variations Guys ? Asobo versions look pretty similar at the moment - thanks Rich Sennett

I did that, lowering the number to 1, but it’s still very noticeable and not smooth at all (2020 or 2024). Maybe I'm missing something? Maybe @Bobsk8 has the right answer. Thanks. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
January 7, 20251 yr Following the advice in another thread, I set the AS update interval to the minimum 10 minutes and the smoothing to 15. Although not perfect, that works well for me. But then I mostly fly prop GA's, and so move a lot more slowly through weather fronts and weather changes. If you're flying fast jets through a series of turbulent fronts, there may be no way for a metar based system to keep up and change smoothly.

Ce n'est pas une transition en douceur. Je ne sais pas avec certitude, je n'ai pas essayé l'AS. Most people buy software without really understanding how it works, for me there is no abrupt change in weather. Also remember that FS2024's default live weather also has sudden changes. Here are the two settings that allow a smooth transition
January 7, 20251 yr I've been using AS more than default live weather since I got 2024 on launch day. Overall I think AS has a more realistic depiction of cloud layers, in particular the rendition of stratus layers. However, this comes at the cost of several stratus cloud layers being quite performance-heavy. In terms of transitions - I definitely notice this with AS. The faster you fly, the less smooth the transitions will be. The worst: flying fast from an area with clear skies to overcast. In general I prefer AS - but I do use default weather as well. For instance, right now I'm flying in South Africa, there's towering cumulus clouds, a high altitude cirrus layer - and I'm sure I can hear thunder! 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
January 7, 20251 yr Active sky all the time on FS 2024... If you don't like skies filled with just popcorn... Adding RealTurb helps even more ! January 7, 20251 yr I use active sky as well. I have been using it in passive mode. FS2024 has some quirks with weather, especially when it comes to the set time vs live time. AS resolves that for me along with effects and lets the sim do the depiction. In this mode, I don't get the weird transitions and strange cloud morphing. Rick D http://g5flyer.tumblr.com/

I wonder why your cases differ so much from others and what it is that other people don't understand. I'm one of those who don't understand and am still trying to figure this out. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.
