[2024 scenery developpers] Unable to exclude ATC Tower

Featured Replies

It’s certainly basic for pros but I’m stucked and here’s my SOS. I want to make compatible my MSFS2020 scenery. For example, Ramona KRNM. When just putting my MSFS2020 scenery build into the MSFS2024 community folder, everything is fine except the control tower of the default MSFS2024 airport which is still visible.

  1. An ExclusionRectangle in the MSF2020 scenery doesn’t remove the MSFS2024 control tower.
  2. An new airport in MSFS2024 overriding the default one with the properties “DeleteAllControlTower” does’nt remove the MSFS2024 Control Tower
  3. An ExclusionRectangle in MSFS2024 with ExcludeAllObjects doesn’t remove the MSFS2024 control tower.

I diont' have the issue on my Gillespie KSEE or Brown airport sceneries but as far as I remember, I have the same problem in Montgomery KMYF.

Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance 😉

I have no clue but would ask on FS Developer forums

The only option left is to try a polygon. Else, it's another one of the MSFS2024 bugs that can't be worked around.

Yes! Thank you. I did test with a MSFS2020 polygon and it was useless. But actually it worked with an MSFS2024 Polygon "ExcludeAllBuilding" ! You put me on the right track. Thanks.

It seems like, from my reading online, that polygons tend to work better at excluding buildings  in 2024, than do other options

I was secretly hoping that I could have ExclusionRectangle and Polygon with exclusions from my MSFS2020 project. Thus, I could manage both version 20 and 24 from the same project, by launching only on sim an it's scenery editor. Imagine the time needed now to boot several time MSFS2020 and MSFS204, as I need to make Polygons/Rectangle from MSFS2024 but also update my scenery from MSFS2020 to keep compatibility ;-(

Don't know if this all will last long...

This video might be helpful, as it explains why direct conversions don't work correctly:

This video is well known 😉 And it's the first thing I did (adding an exclusion rectangle) with SimProp properties, before asking for help here. But it didn't work with the control tower. The solution that work for my situation was adding Polygon exclusion Building - All.
