Hi all.

Until yesterday, performance with 2024 wasnt great compared to 2020, but was possible to fly anyway.

Now I've launched a flight in the 172, during take off I had my usual 30fps, but after a few minutes FPS dropped to around 10, plus lots of pauses/stutters. 

What happened? Felt like a slideshow! With a 14700K and a 7900XT looks quite ridicolous... With 2020 I can keep easily more than 30 with traffic and addons.

Did you open and extra windows or other apps?  I've noticed that if a gauge popup is open, sometimes the fps tanks. I close and reopen it a few times and it settles down.

Thanks, but no, didnt work. Rebooted PC, empty community folder, no other apps. Same results. I take off with 30 FPS, then they start to drop in a couple of minutes, till 10fps or so. Checking with developer mode, I have both render tread, gui thread, mainthread red/purple at maximum when it happens. Ram and Vram usage is fine.

My pc is fine, no overheating, viruses or strange things. Did they change something today? Or is it happening only to me?

Server issues is my guess.

After cheking everything I could think about, I've changed plane, from standard/cloud 172 I've launched a flight mid air with the cows DA42 put in community folder. Average of 40fps at 3500ft in same place, and less blurry graphics too.

Setting aside all the other problems with 2024, when I can get a plane to load, the server has been horrible.  I am getting way fewer fps with way fewer addons (none in 2024) than in 2020 and I have 2gb internet, rrx 4090 and AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor and 64gb DDR5 ram.  I am barely getting 30fps with Lossless activated.

Also...we are 3 weeks since the sim launched and I have autogen scenery in the 5th largest city in the US...Phoenix or KPHX.  There is not even a modeled baseball stadium or basketball arena.  I questioned that at the beginning and many responded it's the servers.  Well..it's the only major city I am seeing this glaring eyesore.  

Something is not right. 

Just tested with default C172 classic with Ultra texture resolution settings in EGLL and around London in clear Sky. About 90% GPU Load on my Old GTX1080TI but VRAM never got pass 9GB which is quite low vs MSFS2020 ?

I could not get Avionic buttons on my HB Yoke to work but landed safely at London City.

I have a 500mbit connection and it was ok but nok great vs ORBX and MSFS2020 . I believe trim was a little better than default MSFS2020.

Stress test to start with. 

 

BTW - is it really not possible to find a METAR locally from the cockpit ? And why is Weather build in to the time of day ??

I have no clue what METAR is if i adjust the time . Cant find it in the EFB

It really feels like 50% of the developers started with a fresh MSFS2020 rather than the latest build .

Lets not build upon the greatest we have from MSFS2020

About FPS and the 172, just read from another user here, he's having similar low fps problem to mine (probably I used the cargo variant, non the passenger one).

My pc is not so powerful as yours ( not too bad either), but situation is same. Checked now metrics in adrenalin panel, and 2020 average of 64fps (using addons and traffic). 2024 average 31fps, with lower settings.

When approaching large cities, I see a >200Mbps stream and major frame rate drop, from upper 50s to mid-high 20s fps.

LoD change, object popin, shadow quality and stutters are all pretty horrible when taxiing at large airports.

With out frame generation and DLSS, this game would be pants.

These reasons keep me solely bush flying, its what this game does best until the 5090 and true local storage arrives.

Maybe they changed something in the background, no idea. Cause last week it was running fine, now tried to have another flight, this time using a different plane, and same thing again. FPS go down withing a minute or two till it is unplayable. Thought about vram bug as many others, but checking it, it's only 9gb of vram used, and I have a 20gb vram card.

I just flew the C172 from KPSP to KLAX. I got 1 studder. but other than that, everything went smooth. As I entered the LA area, my GPU increased to 95%, but my CPU stayed around 15% usage. Nice smooth landing.  I guess I consider myself lucky.

Many of my problems seem solved with the reinstall.
