December 1, 20241 yr In both 2020 and 2024 - I Can start a flight and use all the mouse, keyboard, yoke, quadrant, pedal inputs with no problem as long as I am not in the cockpit. In the cockpit and I can change Nav frequency, set heading, set altitude target. I can use the mouse or hat switch to change the view either inside or outside. But - if I try to do "other" things in the cockpit view - the sim crashes the PC to a black screen and immediate restart. The crash is so hard and fast that nothing is entered into the event log. All this started immediately AFTER I experienced the 2020 Lost Connection and need to download -/165GB foo-fah this afternoon. I clicked on continue and the sim then behaved normally and put me into the World Map - I then did my use Free Flight stuff and ended up on the runway ready to fly. I started entering altitude targets, nav frequency, etc and BOOM - Black screen/restart. Same thing happens in 2024. I have done a lot of experimenting and have determined that if I never enter the cockpit - No Crash. If I enter the cockpit, set my instrument view, adjust the Nav Freq, Heading, Desired altitude and do nothing more - there is NO crash. The instant I try to do anything else - Crash to black screen. If I start the flight with no sound and then turn on (power up my Monsoon speakers) - Crash to Black Screen. This is probably no Flight Sim specific because the same thing happens in Assetto Corso - even when I am running a benchmark requiring no input - eventually Crash to Black Screen. I have done a SFC \Scannow with no problems found I uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Game Services I have verified every driver is up to date. As I said - everything was working perfectly until the 2020 Start/Update issue this afternoon. Any ideas? December 1, 20241 yr Microsuck/Asobo has been throwing a temper tantrum all day. Many, including me, have been caught out and unable to fly as a result. MSFS 2020/2024...both Edited December 1, 20241 yr by dusty_sourdough907

They are all relatively cool and never approach a dangerous level. I have liquid cooling and lots of fans I’ve never seen the CPU above 85C at any time flying a Sim.  AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D / MSI X870 Tomahawk Mobo / 64 GB DDR5 memory / RTX 4070 Super with 12 GB VRAM / AORUS FO48U 4k display  NVMe for Drive C, an NVMe device dedicated to Flight Sim 2024 and a separate NVMe device for Flight Sim 2020 and an NVMe dedicated to 500GB of addons managed by AddonsLinker  / 1 GB Comcast Xfinity Internet connection / HP Reverb G2 / Tobii 5 Head & Eye Tracking Â

There was a known Asobo/MS issue yesterday causing CTD's in 2020, I thought 2024 was unaffected but it appears they managed to take both sims down somehow. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
December 1, 20241 yr Author Sunday Dec 1 14:20 Z - problem seems to have been resolved - loaded flight and flew in 2020 with beautiful scenery and exceptionally high FPS with high LOD and high and ultra settings. All is good and 2020 scenery is far better than 2024 at this point in my usage of the two sims.
