Free Flight option in FS2024?

Featured Replies

One thing I have not seen mentioned about FS2024 is if it will contain a simple Free Flight option in FS2024.  Looking at all the videos FS2024 looks amazing and it has a lot of features like career mode and the ability to walk around your aircraft.  That is cool and all and I will tinker with it on occasion but most of the time I will just want to hop in a plane and fly.  I am sure it will have this option but have not heard it in the raw yet!

The free flight option is 100% available and is pretty much exactly as it is in 2020. The video below was done with free flight, just picked the A10, slapped it on top of the Grand Canyon (inserted the GPS coordinates as a starting point), and let it rip.

That is good to know..I figured it would have a Free Flight option but I was concerned it would force you to follow what you have to do in real life.

Unfortunately real life commitments are usually more important and at least for me time constraints are frequent.  So basically most of the time I don't have time for all that stuff.  Just let me get in and go.  Heck half the time I don't even have the time to start my flight at the gate.  Just dump me on the runway is all I have time for!

I am actually looking forward to much faster boot times "Hopefully" in FS2024.  I don't know how often I thought I had time to complete a quick flight only to be ruined by what seemed like a 10 (or longer) minute boot time.  Maybe I will actually gain enough time that I can actually do more realistic things with it!

The boot time looked really fast (there was a glitch that made the "missed gate" from one of the challenges persist on the screen forever like an eternal stigma so I had to ask for a reboot), but ultimately it'll always depends on how many addons on e has installed, I believe.

Can you imagine the battering they would receive if there were no free flight option?

I'm actually surprised some thinks that's even a possibility,

Sometimes it's baffling what people ask about. How can one be even so anxious to even  assume for a second a free flight option would be removed?

The only stupid question is the one that's not asked....

I live in a world where rfactor1 had offline championships and rfactor2 did not, sometimes Devs do strange things so it's always reassuring to know when they haven't made a monumentally bad decision!

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

There's a Free Flight in the UI and that's where I will spend 99% of my time. 😀

I'm now in sim heaven thanks to MSFS 2024 and hundreds of add-ons!

I use FStarter24 and start anywhere, at the ground or in the air, in a traffic pattern waypoint, approach waypoint, SID waypoint or STAR waypont.

Can't be much simpler than that and it works in both MSFS 2020 and MSFS2024
