Sky4Sim. EFB

Featured Replies

Neofly career addon teamed up with an EFB addon to join the 2 apps in use. Also Sky4Sim works great in VR (14:25 in the video).

This thing will show up on a 2nd monitor using a web browser. Or on iOS and Android tablets. Or in the main window (which you want in VR).

It really is a bag of tools.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Well love some input on this thing of not using neofly.

This guy makes it sound like everyone is using this thing and I have never even heard of it

Looks impressive and have been waiting for an EFB for my tablet, still wish the PMDG tablet could be moved to an actual tablet but this is far more functional regardless.

Thank you

Sky4Sim has had NeoFly integration for well over a year now, probably nearer two. Nice to see it get a bit more exposure, it's a great app for VR.

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

So it's a nice little moving map but can't figure out how to get it to load a simbrief flight plan or how to get a Bing API key despite following the documentation and instructions on Bing Developer Center which essentially points you to Azure.  The My Keys link doesn't work sadly.

Still a nice tool but if it had simbrief integration and I could figure out Bing it would be a really handy tool.

Re Bing Maps this was posted to the Sky4Sim Discord back in July;

**About Bing maps API restrictions and evolution**
Microsoft decided to stop giving free individual keys for Bing maps services and move to azure with a new pricing system. Even if sky4sim seems to be impacted by this changes all sky4sim users, new or old, needs to remember that being able to enter your own Bing map key was just a bonus feature. And that sky4sim wasn’t at any point providing access to bing itself as per the message on the product page

Indeed, sky4sim natively supports OpenStreetMap which is and will remain free and open source, the possibility to access bing maps backgrounds was a bonus and a non essential feature as well as the Maps addons feature which allows you to import any map you would host on your own servers as a map background.

If some of the sky4sim users want to still be able to use bing maps background when we will reach the EOS date, they will have to subscribe to Azure services

We are as well as other addons’ developers really sad about that decision from Microsoft

A new update will be released with the removal of the bing api key form during the first launch process.

Have many great flights,

Regards

various mentions by some people but no idea if it's integration is coming to Sky4Sim, you'll have to ask the Dev yourself 🙂

Appreciate it!  This is a great little tool.  There isn't too much difference between the free and premium but I upgraded today to show support.  As for simbrief I ended up saving my simbrief plan and then also importing it to the MSFS flight planner as well as PMDG and Voici, I can now import my simbrief flightplan to sky4sim.  Perfect workaround.

i really enjoy having the client run on my tablet so I don't have to keep looking down for the PMDG 737 EFB LOL....

Thank you again for the heads up on this one, never would have known about it!

Just an FYI for Sky4Sim Fans I'm just testing S4S in MSFS24 now and for the most part is seems to work very well (thankfully!),  only slight issue is when punching a Flight Plan from S4S -> Sim it doesn't show the magenta lines on the Map on the G1000 (I might be missing a setting perhaps) but the Flight Plan does load into the System still when you click FPL. Sim -> S4S Flight Plan worked as normal from what I've tested so far.

Handy for us VR users seeing as the in game EFB Toolbar option is completely broken, S4S also of course works in 2D as an alternative but in reality the default EFB should be good enough.

From the Discord;

Hello dear community!

First of all thanks to all for you support.

I received tons of messages from users which are not really satisfied by the native FS24 EFB and which asked me to integrate sky4sim into FS24. Sky4Sim is actually working on FS24 if you copy the ingamepanel-sky4sim-ng folder from the MSFS community package to the FS24 community folder.

I will plan a release for January in order to to some improvements:

  • Auto detect all FS24 paths and install packages properly on this simulator
  • Remove the request for a bing API key on first launch (as Bing doesn't deliver new API keys anymore) - It will still be possible to use bing map background if you already have a key until it becomes obsolete in June
  • Change the elevation API provider (which was Bing)
  • Fix the prevent shutdown issue
  • Change the way FP are shared with aircraft's Avionics as it became completely broken with the last upgrade of avionics framework on FS24 (will save the .pln files and user will have to use the internal FS24 EFB to load them into the avionics)
  • Fix the airspace map (using openAIP) which now require an API key

This will basically allows you to use sky4sim as an ingame 2D panel in FS2024 as on MSFS I started to work on a Proof of Concept to host sky4sim into the FS24 EFB as an application. There is still a lot of work to do. I hope being able to get it working current January. The EFB application version which will be available into any aircraft 3D model and into the 2D MSFS EFB panel will be sold as a new upgrade. Sharing some screenshots of the current state of the project Have a great end of year and happy celebrations!

I run it next to FSHud on my client machine.

MSFS24 EFB Upgrade is released, only €5 which IMO is a bargain for such a brilliant app.

I'm finding that, even after performing a Navdata Update within the sky4sim in-sim panel settings, that sky4sim's map isn't showing the correct parking spot information in FS2024. I'm guessing it's showing FS2020 spots instead, though I haven't booted that to check. Little Navmap and GSX are able to display/work with the actual FS2024 spots so the data seems to be available at least. Anyone else run into this? The airport I'm looking at at the moment is KTVC.
