7.8.5 issues with lights (FIXED Aug 3)

So we have now a bunch of people reporting this issue on MSFS but now also people reporting the same issue on P3D, so it does not really appear to be a MSFS issue.

I know you don't want to revert back but isn't there even a small chance for a test only to revert back to 7.8.3 so we can run a test and see if it happens there?

  • You are right, it is done, and thanks for your donation.  I have rolled back internally to 7.7.0 and indeed no flickering over there. When comparing the two sources I found the cause. A SimConnec

  • Yes, this would be the most scientific approach to test a theory whether it's PSXT to blame. 7.8.3 was the last stable (regarding AI lights) version.

  • Then don't, but I think it's time to turn down the temperature a bit on this topic. Nico has given us PSXT for free, and I understand the cost of RT - I am in the middle of a 12 Mo. sub for the pro ve

Just adding my two cents. Over the past couple days, i have been experimenting to figure out where the issue is with AI lights.

Initially I had AIG models and FSLTL models installed. I reached out to FSLTL to see if they could provide any guidance. They thought maybe it was the AIG models. So I removed the AIG models (most are duplicative of FSLTL and heavier on frame rates anyway). Restarted MSFS, PSXT and RealTraffic. Same issue.

I uninstalled and reinstalled FSLTL base models. Restarted MSFS, PSXT and RealTraffic. Same issue.

Closed MSFS, updated my graphics card. Restarted MSFS, PSXT and RealTraffic. Same issue.

I closed PSXT and Realtraffic and started the FLSTL Traffic Injector. All models now have lights from push through takeoff and into flight showing the correct lighting phase. They never flickered. Same FSLTL base models.

Just to be sure. I stopped FLSTL Traffic Injector and restarted PSXT and RealTraffic. no lights and if I do see lights, they are only on for 1 second. Most of the time they are off.

This confirms for me that this is not a model or MSFS graphics issue. The problem is somewhere in PSXT.

exactly same issue as video above.

Let Nico work surely and hopefully he will help us to find whats goin on with PSXT and AI lights.

That is the same issue I see as well.

Your jumping into conclusions too soon, I'm afraid. There is no evidence that PSXT is causing flickering.  How could it? It only switches lights on and off when it is approriate. It does not command on/off every second... Besides the code that controls the lights is very, very simple. There is hardly anything you can do wrong, and it exists already for 10 years...

It must be something else.

Nico, if you allowed a test build of an older version to be used (before the Simonnect changes), it would be simple to see if the problem still occurs.

Hi Nico

Is it possible that a file in the last downloads got corrupted at all. Which might explain why you dont see it and we do.

No, it did not get corrupted..

I see the "1 seconds" flickering too, but that must be a model issue.

Why don't we confirm that with giving us 7.8.3 back for a test?

Multiple people on multiple platforms now reported the same light issue and the last one working was 7.8.3 so let's move back to 7.8.3, run tests and move on from there... Why can't we try that?

Whilst I see this on occasion, it is far from constantly. Hence, I believe that it is a model issue. To that end it would probably be beneficial if everyone seeing the flickering state their models in use.

I only use AIG models and there was a big model behaviour update about a week ago, so ensure that your models are updated.

Earlier this morning I taxied out for take-off at LCLK and I watche an ASL B737 Freighter land, its lights were solid all the way.

No its not model issue as with WATSIM or IVAO thése aircraft have full lights workin.

Then models have not changed since 7.8.3.

Its not a model issue in my case. Excerpts from my previous post:

I only have FSLTL models installed. The lights work with FSLTL traffic injector. The lights flicker with PSXT.

Its also stated in the 7/16 release notes (7.8.5) that Nico was trying to fix an issue with the lights. I don't recall a problem with the lights prior to that, but that was over 15 days ago and I don't remember what I did yesterday, lol

It is not much use talking about the FSLTL traffic injector because it works different from PSXT, it uses the MSFS ai engine. See earlier responses by me.

I am currently first working on exiting new functions provided by RT.  I have no clue what PSXT has to do with that lights issue.

However, from my working live experience, some problems that pop up often go away without paying attention. I expect that for the lights issue to happen too. 😉

So please, have patience.
