July 11, 20241 yr Helicopter flight model refinements and an Airbus H135/Eurocopter EC 135 sound great 🙂
July 12, 20241 yr Skip to the second half, first half is typical who are questions. And of course they run out of time, waste... They have couple of new employees, so that should speed thing up! Ben and whoever is working with him are working on next-gen scenery! That's the gist I got out of it. AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 4080S, Ram - 32GB, 32" 4K Monitor, WIN 11. Eric Escobar
July 12, 20241 yr Definitely looking forward to the next-gen scenery! July 13, 20241 yr Author Of course I am also very interested in the new scenery format but information is just too "cloudy" about it currently. "Streaming-friendly" for example is just a bullet point and does not explain what they have in mind. I hope they come across with more technical details soon. Also I have been bitten to read too much into their announcements before (for example the weather rewrite, although nice, fell short of what I expected from their early presentations). But an EC135 coming to X-Plane and Austin working on rotary wings flight model does not leave too much room for interpretation 🙂
July 13, 20241 yr Quote Yeah - there were water rendering changes and they unfortunately happened at the end in two steps - resulting in a temporary reduction in water features. This was in order to introduce full orthophoto water color capabilities. For both base mesh orthos, as well as draped ortho overlay polygons. So the 2nd part for this will come out in 12.1.2, within a matter of weeks. We call this release internally the "carribean release" and yes - you'll get beautiful water colors, coral reefs and all that, not just in the carribean. And not just water color. It will visually likely be one of the most notable changes since 12.00 introduced the new photometric rendering. So hang on, its going to be good. Interesting comment at the org! AutoOrtho needs to be updated to take advantage of the new water features. AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 4080S, Ram - 32GB, 32" 4K Monitor, WIN 11. Eric Escobar

They have their work cut out ahead of them. They are years behind the competition in the scenery department, especially with 2024 around the corner. Manipulating nobs in the XP 3d cockpit is clunky and painful, especially in VR. In 2020 I can use my mouse wheel to adjust mixture very precisely. In XP I have click, hold, and move the mouse, which is very imprecise. AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 4080S, Ram - 32GB, 32" 4K Monitor, WIN 11. Eric Escobar

July 16, 20241 yr So, apparently Austin is up for an helicopters FM remake/uplift.... Hope we can finally get decently modelled VRS - One we can't simply get out from by simply pulling on the collective... VRS, but not only, was one of my problems in XP Vs other SIM comparisons when some simmers, more rotary wing oriented asked me to show them why I could keep saying that XP was top compared to competition... I always failed miserably to show a proper VRS simulation in XP, all versions since I started using it by V8...
