Does MSFS on Steam have a content.xml file?

Featured Replies

I can't find the file.  It's supposed to exist per "We Love VFR" documentation.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

It's an optional file now and I believe it will only exist if you have a subscription to Navigraph Navdata or some other addon that requires itself to be loaded in a certain order (layer.) I have all 3 "we love vfr" and it's not in my content.xml. Could be an old version containing outdated instructions.

I did a global search of my drives looking for it and couldn't find it which is why I asked.

I checked again using the file path you suggested above.  Still nothing. It's not there. Can you double-check? Try renaming it to something else and run MSFS and see if MSFS runs fine without the file.

It only generates if you use the package rearranger or whatever it’s called

UserCfg.opt and Content.xml as well as other files such as CrashReport.txt are in

C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator

I used the mouse to copy the path from Windows file explorer and paste it above.

I temporarily removed content.xml and then booted up MSFS and flight went perfect, no issues.
