I agree the crew is (in my opinion) way too casual and flippant.... I do think that may be due to the way this Pike is portrayed, where he is more like one of the crews pals/den-leader/dad than a Captain. The motion picture Pike and the original series Pike were way more serious. In real life, I fear (I could be wrong though) that his leadership style would tend to undermine his own authority eventually. Already the crew seems to question and second guess him at the drop of a hat. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... I think the directors and writers are are just not very talented to be honest and bad choices are made. There was a bad example regarding that Erica Ortegas character and Spock. She spoke to him in a way that no mere helmsman would ever address a superior officer. I seriously doubt that such disrespect would be regarded as a good ideas on a Starship, even in the 23rd century. Such lack of discipline and respect would compromise the ships operation and potentially safety. I understand that often, during filming, dodgy stuff is sometimes changed but on some shows the producers are adamant that dialogue must not be changed and that the actors and director are not allowed that option. I recall it was on the excellent podcast The Shuttlepod Show I heard that. It's an excellent podcast with Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating, from Star Trek Enterprise. Foundation series two is now available on Apple, so that's something decent to watch. Edited July 18, 20232 yr by martin-w

July 21, 20232 yr Without watching that video, I would say that they have decided to make this version of Spock much more in touch with his human side. That is a slight shock to the system, but not altogether unwarranted. References to Spock's emotions in the pilot episode are not valid as that was version 1 of Spock which was immediately replaced by version 2, the unemotional, logical version which helped make Star Trek so successful. This series has turned into some kind of pantomime. What in gods name is wrong with the writers? They seem intent on destroying what Star Trek is supposed to be about and turning it into some kind of slapstick Doctor Who madness. Pretty disgusting to be honest.

July 31, 20232 yr I am only about half way through this series and I've lost interest, so I am watching Deep Space 9 because I didn't get a chance to see it when it first came out due to being busy with school at that time. The Picard series made me interested in Worf once again and as he does eventually play a big part in DS9 I am excited to be able to watch it all for the first time, so far it is much better then the modern stuff. I will admit this quote has become one of my favourite in Star Trek of all time:I am Worf, son of Mogh, House of Martok, son of Sergei, House of Rozhenko, Bane to the Duras Family, slayer of Gowron. I have made some chamomile tea. Do you take sugar? 🤣 Yep Worf is the best to bad they didn't give Michael Dorn a spinoff Edited July 31, 20232 yr by Matthew Kane Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
