May 22, 20233 yr @Franz007 The developer suggested that I set my "maxwait" to 3.0 in the .autoortho file and it has helped with those delays immensely. I also get less frequent blurry tiles, contrary to the comment in the file. Mine is at 2.0 and it works fine. YMMV. Edited May 22, 20233 yr by dolph98
May 22, 20233 yr I just went back to using Ortho from vstates - the xp11 stuff. It generally works pretty well but at the cost of massive storage space hehe. I only have my local area and that's where I tend to fly anyway. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

But I will try again with 2 or 3. In the last version the default value there is « true » and not 0.5 anymore. I wonder what that means… i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
May 23, 20233 yr 0.5 default? I can't remember what mine was, but 5 rings a bell. Maybe it was 0.5. I looked on Github for that exchange but couldn't find it. Oh well, after I set it to 2.0 it became clear that a bottleneck was removed somewhere, at least on my setup. It doesn't make sense to me to make the delay bigger. I have been seeing comments saying AO downloads are very slow, taking hours or even all night in some cases. I wonder, could it be related to their ISP, perhaps they are throttllng data? My startup times are 3 minutes or less no matter where in the world I fly and I have yet to see it hang or stop or delay. I do not have the whole world XP scenery installed, only USA and Europe for now. Same with the AO downloads, only USA and EU. I doubt that has anything to do with it but thought I'd mention it. My Internet connection is WIFI to my PC, and my tested speed is 100 Mbps tested with "speedtest.net" this morning. If I run a cable to my router, it is 300Mbps or better. The cable is 50 feet long running thru the house, so I don't use it normally except for large downloads.

Otherwise i was not able to figure out why i’m having such long loading times when i start from a new destination not being cached. I also have a 100Mbs-connection that works well. But when it downloads the tiles the download speed is low. It goes from 0 to max. 17Mbps. I tried everything, even disabling the antivirus. I cannot understand why it needs so long at the beginning (in average around 45 minutes). If someone has an idea what could be the issue, he’s very welcome 😀 When i download the base-scenery it is fast and close to 100Mbps (10-12 MB/s). I also tried it with only one region installed. It’s exactly the same. Edited May 23, 20233 yr by Franz007 i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM

If you have apps running in your system tray, try closing them - Onedrive was a problem for me. Close down what you can and see if it helps. Otherwise i don’t think that something else is using my port, since the speed in the Task Manager only seems to show up when tiles are being downloaded. Otherwise it’s at zero or just a few KB/s. Could you take a look and tell me how your speed is when it downloads the tiles? And do you also have intermittents downloads like 2-3 sec. nothing, then 2-3 sec. 5-6 or sometimes up to 17 Mbps. Then down again etc.? Edited May 23, 20233 yr by Franz007 i9 12900k, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM
May 23, 20233 yr I was so encouraged to see this video and so I tried autoortho AGAIN! As my first venture into it failed misearable. So I rain the installer, got the GUI and since I have my ortho scenery all on an external drive linked with shortcuts (which works perfectly for me)..I completed the two dir: X-Plane scenery dir: pointing to my V:\Flight Simulation\XP - Custom Scenery And the image cache to the default C:\Users\Bryan & Patricia\.autoortho-data\cache I put short cuts in my Scenery.ini to the new scenery and overlays etc. When I went to run the module is said there was an error couldn't load the stuff wouldn't work. So I figured that it must have to be installed into the main X-plane custom scenery folder directly. So I deleted everything and started over. Loading in only NA area this time, when I press RUN it says there is a mismatch between where I installed the scenery (the V drive I mention above and now where it actually is installed. WHAT the heck. So I deleted the entire program, went to the autoortho-data\cache and deleted this and one other autoortho file I thought was some sort of index. AND HERE I GO AGAIN, starting from scratch, load in NA blah blah...and sure enough it say I have errors and it lists the blasted V DRIVE again. What in heck is going on, how to a get rid of the reference to V drive, as there is no uninstall program or something like an index file holding onto the original failed V drive attempt. Any help here would be welcome. Bryan Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3

Configure Autoortho with pointing it to your custom scenery folder and any other for the cache. Then donwload the default reagion you want (Europe, USA etc.) via the Autoorthi UI. It will automatically install it in your custom scenery folder. Then configure your ini-file for the new region-sceneries to be below everything else. And before that, i would better transfer all "normal" Orthos to another folder and empty your custom folder for any of them (shortcuts included), otherwise there may be some conflicts. If that doesnt work, just install a second copy of XP without anything (addons etc.). Install autoorthos. And then copy all your addons into it. Yes I deleted absolutely everything associated with Autoortho. And started over, cleaned up my scenery.ini. And set into motion, installing NA. It completed. No errors. I can see all the expected entries in the custom scenery folder and read into scenery.ini. I launch the autoortho_win, and click RUN and it shuts down. And now when I run XP12 I get a crash everytime. logtxt0:02:19.232 I/SCN: DSF load time: 837215 for file Custom Scenery/yAutoOrtho_Overlays/Earth nav data/+50-100/+51-099.dsf (0 tris, 0 skipped for 0.0 m^2) 0:02:19.232 I/SCN: DSF load time: 837460 for file Custom Scenery/yAutoOrtho_Overlays/Earth nav data/+50-100/+51-097.dsf (0 tris, 0 skipped for 0.0 m^2) 0:02:19.232 I/SCN: DSF load time: 846387 for file Custom Scenery/yAutoOrtho_Overlays/Earth nav data/+40-100/+49-099.dsf (0 tris, 0 skipped for 0.0 m^2) 0:02:19.232 I/SCN: DSF load time: 854549 for file Custom Scenery/yAutoOrtho_Overlays/Earth nav data/+40-100/+49-097.dsf (0 tris, 0 skipped for 0.0 m^2) 0:02:19.232 E/SCN: Failed to find resource '../textures/21856_15152_BI16.dds', referenced from file 'Custom Scenery/z_na_13/terrain/'. 0:02:19.232 E/SCN: Failed to find resource '../textures/21856_15152_BI16.dds', referenced from file 'Custom Scenery/z_na_13/terrain/'. 0:02:19.232 E/SCN: Failed to find resource '../textures/21856_15152_BI16.dds', referenced from file 'Custom Scenery/z_na_13/terrain/'. 0:02:19.232 E/SCN: Failed to find resource '../textures/21856_15152_BI16.dds', referenced from file 'Custom Scenery/z_na_13/terrain/'. --=={This application has crashed!}==-- --=={UUID: 1e83454f-f0d1-49d1-ba9b-2086f23155c9}==-- Its trying to read textures which I suspect need to be there by running the module.
