January 23, 20233 yr I haven't, yet, tried my Carenendos in XP12. I have the Grand Caravan and the TBM 850. To be honest, I didn't use either much in XP11. You can't expect total back-integration.

Aircraft, not so." aircraft not so: not exactly "total back-integration", 🙂 no new xplane12-compatibles on the horizon from them either. the new default Citation looks very nice from the outside, inside is only so-so. January 23, 20233 yr FYI, the aircraft have a habit of breaking during the run, XP11.30 basically nuked many if not all aircraft before XP11.30. Pick active developers, steer very very clear of the fly by night crew to avoid disappointment. AutoATC Developer

January 24, 20233 yr One of my big hopes for XP12 was that I'd be able to do away with many PC-eating add-ons.

That's not a criticism of anyone else, just that they both have a large rock solid portfolio that have been constantly updated for years. I dont know much about any of the others. possibly the easiest way to see is to look at the changelog/version history. Edited January 24, 20233 yr by mSparks AutoATC Developer
January 24, 20233 yr I'm currently sticking with the Laminar planes + the Zibo. See how things evolve.

See how things evolve. there is a vast vast array of freeware beyond that to keep you busy as well. It wasnt until quite close to the end of the XP11 run I bought my first payware. As per LR default aircraft have set an incredibly high standard. You really dont need to run off and buy 3PD payware aircraft to enjoy XP a lot, they are all also fairly expensive imho, just seems wrong to me that a single aircraft generally costs as much or more than the entire sim. But I think that is more a factor of XP being just incredibly cheap for what you get. AutoATC Developer

Not the cleverest strategy from who? Laminar?? I'm going to assume you know little to nothing about 3rd party payware development and compatibility. It is literally impossible to make X-Plane 12 and have all X-Plane 11 add ons work in it. Particularly with plugins. Won't happen in X-Plane, MSFS, or any other flight sim. Default add ons will be made compatible, as Laminar have done. But no software, even outside of flight sims, will allow a 3rd party add on, with scripts or plugins, to work in a new version. Apart from any updates that may be in progress, in all the Carenado add ons I checked, they have made it clear it is for X-Plane 11 only. 6 hours ago, turbomax said: not the cleverest strategy to make everything obsolete overnight without a compatibility-mode or free converter or some such The compatibility mode is X-Plane 11. And nothing was made obsolete overnight. Laminar invited all payware developers to take part in X-Plane 12 testing over a year ago, also giving them the opportunity to update their add ons. Carenado have said they have no interest in supporting their work for X-Plane 12 any longer.
January 24, 20233 yr Sparky, I'm taking the p****, a bit. It's the British way, mate. This you? Anyway, XP11 versus XP12 - frame rates are my problem. I need a better PC 🙂
