December 30, 20223 yr Hi, I am new to MSFS, just got it installed maybe a week ago. I have years of simming on FSX and X-plane 11. I quickly realized that most of my settings (especially controller settings) and the progress are not being saved. After a long investigation and sending a ticket to MSFS support it became clear to me that Steam (or MSFS) doesn't create a folder 1250410 in Steam\userdata. Apparently there some of the setting are supposed to be stored (apparently they are related to cloud storage). I did file integrity check through steam, but that folder wasn't re-created. Also re-install didn't help. I can play the game, but I cannot save most of the settings, nor any progress in flight training. Every time I start MSFS it starts from the basic setup as if I played it for the first time. I also cannot create save in the cloud. I can save the flight on my PC and recreate that flight with no problem, but services related to cloud are broken on my PC. I am still waiting for some wise words from gurus from Steam and MSFS help desk, but maybe I could find some help here? Thanks
December 30, 20223 yr Author Yes it is. It says 257.49 MB available 0 bytes stored.. and it never saves anything to the cloud. Other games' cloud saves seem to work fine
December 31, 20223 yr I just checked my config file, it's stored here: C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\UserCfg.opt You might want to check if this file exists.

But apparently, all the settings related to cloud, including player's progress, logbook and most of the settings are supposed to be stored in the cloud. That particular folder 1250410 is supposed to have something to do with it. Besides, my installation doesn't even create it. It is supposed to be in steam\userdata, and I don't have that folder at all

I use the Microsoft Store myself, but other Steam users can confirm this is where the configuration files are supposed to be saved. I have not heard of MSFS storing files outside of the C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\ folder before, even from other Steam users, if the files are stored on a hard drive and not on the cloud. You are the first to mention it. From my knowledge, if MSFS saves to a file, it will save to a file within the C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\ folder. December 31, 20223 yr Author If I save the flight to the hard drive it is stored in C:\Users\Michal\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator and I can easily load it, no problem there. The issue is with cloud services. Anything that is stored in the cloud doesn't work on. Cannot save my progress nor most of the settings, especially controller settings. Other games that use cloud saves from steam are working fine, just msfs is playing up.
December 31, 20223 yr Hi there, I don't know what folder in Steam you are referring to. But as mentioned before, controller settings are located in the AppData folder, here in \Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData. The wgs folder contains your controller settings. The folder you mentioned is probably a Steam thing, Good luck Mick PC: Gigabyte X670 Aorus Elite, AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 Super Aorus Master, DDR5 G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo 2X32 GB, Corsair HX 1000, Fractal Torrent, Samsung LC32 / G7 1440P.

If you can save the settings on your hard drive and it loads properly, I would just use that for now instead of the cloud. I personally don't use the clouds to save my MSFS settings. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

I can only save a flight to my hard drive, most other setting including player's progress are apparently stored automatically in the cloud. At least I didn't see the option to opt out of cloud saves of those settings
December 31, 20223 yr I'm on the store version, so I don't know if the wgs folder on the Steam version. But if, just try to run the sim without internet connection, do your settings and all, a quick flight and restart the sim. It can't synchronize with the cloud then. If it doesn't save your settings, the problem must be your system. If it did save, reconnect internet and this time the sim should ask how to synchronize, cloud or PC. Just give it a go... While it's great you are trying to help, perhaps leave this one to Steam users of MSFS? 13 hours ago, michallesniak said: After a long investigation and sending a ticket to MSFS support it became clear to me that Steam (or MSFS) doesn't create a folder 1250410 in Steam\userdata Have you tried to manually create this folder in the location and given the folder appropriate read/write rights? December 31, 20223 yr Sorry for being wrong, but never got any feedback of the Michal. The issue still is: cloud service or local system? So disconnecting internet could point in some direction. December 31, 20223 yr I am on the Steam version, all my controller settings are located locally here: C:\Games\Steam\userdata\52727219\1250410\remote I also know that this information is also located on an MS server somewhere because as a test I moved all these files from my local to a thumb drive and MS rebuilt the directory on the next sim startup. I hope this helps somehow. Just to add, my entire Steam directory is excluded from window defender (windows security) Edited December 31, 20223 yr by Mike S KPDX CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro | GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

Have you excluded Windows Defender from proactively reviewing your game folder locations? I uninstalled Kaspersky antivirus few days ago just to see if that was going to help. I didn't. Now I am temporarily on Windows Defender. Could you please tell me how I can exclude a folder from it? Also, I just tried to create that folder in Steam directory, but despite the fact that I am the administrator I was not allowed to do that. It was saying that I need permission to perform this action. Tried to remove "Read Only" form steam\userdata status but it throws the error "An error occurred applying attributes to the files.... I did what I could , including cmd commands to get "full" administrator rights, but still nothing. Also was trying to play with steam cloud settings for cloud, but even if I un-tick the cloud storage option, it automatically "ticks" that option after closing settings window. By the way, cloud saves for other games work just fine, to my knowlwdge only msfs is playing up
