Perhaps that’s why a type rating isn’t easily achieved… persistent practice pays. Tomorrow’s another day…

You got that right, if I was an ATP,  I would be filling out job apps at MCD's.....

It’s worth emphasizing what another post said, typically when you import a flight plan into an FMC or in this case the MCDU it does not import the departure (SID) or the arrival (STAR). I think the reasoning is that the weather may change and thus the departure and arrival procedures can also change.

the flight plan you are seeing might consist of just the cruise sections of the flight plan. This tripped me up when I was learning too.

I guess most of you have figured it out, but this is how to get the EFB in full screen on an iPad.

1. Go to Safari browser on the iPad. Enter the following address: http://<LOCAL IP>:8083

Example: http://192.168.1.60:8083

Find your IP address here: settings-network and internet-properties-IPv4 address

2. Click the share button in the upper right corner of the browser.

3. Choose “Add to Home Screen”

4. Tap the icon that was added to the home screen (or move it to a folder of your choice).

5. Enjoy the EFB in all its glory in full screen on your iPad 😎

Just to be encouraging - I too learnt the Boeings first, and flew them for a few years on P3D (737, 777, 747 ,787). When I first tried the Airbus in MSFS, it was an entirely different world and it took a while to get used to it. It was frustrating at first because I kept expecting behavior like the Boeing, but Airbus does everything differently!

I've read your posts over the past few days, and it reminds me of myself a couple years ago. The good news is this - the Fenix is an extremely complete airplane, so you can reasonably assume that if things aren't working, it's because you haven't done things properly. The plane's behavior is very predictable and consistent (barring an installation issue or something, but it doesn't sound like you have that problem.) So it's extremely unlikely that you'll do things right and the plane will do weird things.. that won't happen 99% of the time.

Take it step by step, watch the videos carefully, read the guides. When it all comes together (and it will, don't worry), it's rather magical. It's really a lot of fun.

What happens if you long press on the icons? Do they start to jiggle and can you move them around the screen?

It works that way on my EFB, and it's just like the real iPad - hold your finger on the icon for ~5 seconds, and it will start to jiggle and you can move it around. Maybe that will help fix it?

They jiggle but I cannot move them.

Sounds like a bug then, try a reinstall or otherwise Fenix will help you I'm sure.

I will attempt a reinstall. Thanks.

One more thing you can try - use an external device. That's independent of the EFB in the plane (you can have the Navigraph app open on one, and the Perf Calculator on the other) and if it works you'll be able to get going.

If you have a tablet that works great, but you can also use a different computer, or even connect to the EFB from a browser on your computer (and alt-tab between the two).

Yes from Boeing to this was much more diffcult than I expected.

Give us some good news on performance guys ! Might purchase it finally.

Like everything MSFS, user experience seems to vary.  On my system it is fine with my FPS locked at 33.  I have the A320 settings at 'quality' and it flies well.

I noticed that the Departure Perf in the EFB no longer picked up the departure airfield. Maybe a one-off 🤷‍♂️

But apart from that … all the kit seems to be working harder which is good and it’s produced an uplift in FPS so … nicely done! 👍

Hey! This gets picked up based on what you have in the MCDU, so if you have input a departure into the INIT page then it will be picked up by the EFB. Otherwise, it’ll leave it blank for you to enter yourself 🙂

Hope you had a fun flight!

Katie

Some of the things on that changelog astound me. Over the years I have often wondered about the effectiveness of "beta testing", I'll stop there.
