August 27, 20205 yr The birth of virtual storm-chasing? https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2020/8/27/21403769/hurricane-laura-microsoft-flight-simulator Quote Microsoft Flight Simulator players have turned into virtual stormchasers this week, hunting down Hurricane Laura as it approached the US Gulf Coast. While Texas and Louisiana brace for what is being described as an “unsurvivable storm surge,” the real-time weather inside Microsoft Flight Simulator is providing a surreal spectacle for players. August 27, 20205 yr I saw quite a few over there yesterday, a few from this very forum were taking a look as well. The only let down was the continuing lack of wind data in the area, although some might see that as a good thing when a hurricane is involved! 😁

August 27, 20205 yr I had to use slew mode to get to it. I was the cool guy flying the Icon A5 low over the crazy waves. MSFS Alpha tester on W10 Pro x64. Hardware: AMD 5900X 12 core CPU. We had several people yesterday reporting that the storms in Europe were accurately represented by ingame winds. I didn't get to check myself in the evening, but I'll keep an eye out for significant weather events in Europe to check against ingame conditions.

Well i'm actually seeing slightly different behaviour in Europe today. Wind direction correct on the runway but at a good old 3 knots when it should have been 10. Get above 1000 feet and the winds then seem to correct themselves.

Inside the hurricane I expected strong winds, but there was actually nothing, it was easy to fly. Or can someone really fly that easy in a Hurrican? 😉
August 27, 20205 yr i wished it was possible to have a smaller mp tag, put it off , but then you see no one , until really close haha. i am amased how well the mp works tho.
