220K twitch viewers, 60K Steam players online

Featured Replies

I think they got around 3 million sales day one

For those who are unfamiliar, this is typical for new AAA releases.

By the weekend, Twitch views will be back to sub 5k and Steam players will die down as people move to the next game,

I wouldn't be surprised if most of those Steam users are still downloading the simulator's content. Apparently it records the client as playtime, and as a result will not allow people who have been downloading for more than two hours to be eligible for a refund.

220k Twitch viewers is not normal for all AAA releases. And I'll bet you a lot of money twitch views won't drop to below 5K in the next four days.

I'd be interested in confirmation of that.

That's three million dollars in 1 month game pass subs, congratulations.

Don't think you'd need confirmation - it makes sense. The installer IS the game. It installs itself within the sim. The download is only 1 GB.

I can't say I understand why you're posting here. Let people be excited. It doesn't hurt you. Their enjoyment is all our enjoyment.

Exactly. When's the last time a flight simulator hit AAA release type interest numbers?

The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store.

And according to the reviews the launcher counts as playtime, which only makes sense since you have the application running, and the download client doubles as the simulator itself. Even in games with separate launchers it still counts as playtime based on my own experience.

Would Steam make an exception in this case? Unlikely, since they can't tell how much a user has actually played the game. I've been downloading via the client for 37 hours straight now, and no way they would believe me if I asked for a refund with so much "playtime". And considering its cost, it makes sense that nobody would risk doing so.

Mathijs over at aerosoft reckons msfs has already overtaken P3d in terms of users (well that's what he wrote in the forum). A new beginning (with some teething issues)!!

That’s still not confirmation. Steam has good customer support and I suspect you could get your refund.

When was the last time any company marketed and hyped a flight simulator like this? I'm not bashing the sim, but some of you seem very new to Twitch and how it works. It is, along with YouTube, the single best place to advertise your game.

Check back in a week and see how well it's doing on Twitch.
