Hook, are you saying it's a fool's errand to fly with less than that 8 gig VRAM?

I have no idea, I don't monitor it in MSFS.  But I like to run on Ultra settings and I suspect that might push video ram a bit if DX12 is using it.  I'm pretty sure I can ignore it with the current DX11.

Not rushing for it, for sure. An important point will be to check the required hardware, after the release next week. I suspect it'll be surprises.

Threshold released a performance and graphics video on a mid-range PC, using a 1070, which has 8GB. Looks to be enough, so I wouldn't worry

I've got a GTX 1070 and am having no problems currently.

DirectX 12 applications do not inherently use more VRAM. If you are within the limit with Ultra settings now, I don't think you should be worried.

Hook what’s your frames like on ultra? I’m on a 1070 and I’m expecting to run this on high at 1080.

Frames... "adequate"? 😄   Probably more than 20, probably less than 60.  I don't display fps.  I will occasionally see slowdowns, sometimes for no apparent reason.  Things are happening in the background, obviously.

No worse than what I get in P3Dv4.5

1. I would like to have access to the SDK. Lately I enjoyed a lot touching traffic files, airport files, liveries and other kind of stuff on FSX or XP. So until a SDK is announced I may have it on hold.

2. I would like to see some important issues fixed before buying it. Also, I want to see detailed reviews about the deluxe and premium deluxe editions.

3. I want to see how things evolve next week with the release.

So probably I will use it with game pass for a few months, and I will buy game pass once I know what has been released. Once the platform is mature enough I will go for some of the editions.

I'll be waiting for the 3080TI or 3090 to become available on aftermarket PCB's and also for benchmarks to come out establishing the performance on the Intel 10900K vs AMD 3950X, based on the CPU results I'll either be buying a 10900K or the zen 3 4000 series equivalent of the 3950X. So optimistically October or November...

I have an i7 4970K with a GTX970, 16G of Ram and a HDD, not an SSD. I have been alpha/beta testing since April and loving the platform for what it offers and what it will offer. As a tester, I know that the upcoming release will be far from perfect, but I will be purchasing the sim when I find out the ramifications of buying through the MS Store or through Steam. So I will probably wait a day or two.

My main concern is I want access to the underlying files that we have grown to love, which allow us to tweak. I have heard from a couple of people that it is likely that the Steam version allows that, but the version that would be purchased via the MS Store would have many files encrypted and not accessible. I will wait until others get their hands on both version and see what they have to say.

There’s no difference between the two except for the launcher. The file structure is supposedly exactly the same between the two.

Spot-on, Christopher. With you on that score.

I am curious why someone bored with FS would be on an FS forum. Hmmmm?

Because it's a new FS of course.  Nothing relieves boredom better than a change of scenery.

Not delaying it - I bought it already, from Steam, and look fwd to re-install it, although I know I'll have to invest in a new PC if I really want to profit from the best it presently has to offer - the graphics and scenery.

When it gets DX12 I'll have to stop flying it.

I don't have a time frame for purchase, just whenever I decide from what I read in the media.

You're a beta tester right? You're not gonna buy it right away?

Happy with MSFS 🙂
