August 3, 20205 yr Authentic scenery (especially with VFR), authentic weather, modern flight model. The ability to fly somewhere spontaneous without having to install orthos first. Nice to have: Gameplay elements that add some entertainment to standard simming, like landing challenges, bush trips, etc. Edited August 3, 20205 yr by tweekz Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

Right NOW is probably what will end up being the most exciting for me...you know, the anticipation leading up to release and all it's disappointment 🙂 j/k Honestly, I think it's probably the new 10 year commitment thing from MS that has me the most hopeful/excited. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when MS pulled away from the genre simply because they're the ones who have enough resources to properly support such projects. August 3, 20205 yr Well ... just to finally see and feel it myself ... and fly! And I like the inclusion of decent flight planning, even with SIDs and STARs without having to go to Plan-G or LittleNavMap, although I'll probably keep using those just for fun too. And of course to endlessly tinker with all the settings. But first there's another project which is also fun ... the acquiring and building of a new rig. Still going to wait for those nVidia 3000 series to be available ... it could very well be end of 2020 or beginning of 2021 before decent priced models are out. In the mean time I'll watch all your videos. 🙂 Always have fun --0-- Flight Sim Navigation
August 3, 20205 yr This thread is like watching people trapped in an elevator for 18 days... Imagine the simple thing of being able to change the weather on the fly. It takes me a good half hour to set up a scenario in Prepar3d, and if I change something it reloads all over again...that's probably redundant...

I will tell you a truth, I don’t like most the soap vendor style of some of the YTers either. I am a minimalist 😄. Some are quite good but most recite the « elements of language » given by MS. I agree on that.I only take exception when you talk of censorship. This is not, mostly laziness and the desire to keep a cosy relationship with MS to get more. That is exactly how journalists and politicians work. Again, this is not what the OP wanted this thread to be. Lets respect that. August 3, 20205 yr For me it's the global coverage of realistic scenery (in some places more, in some less), the weather system and the lighting (oh that lighting!) out of the box. And perhaps most of all the new possibilities this platform brings to the world of flight sim. i9-11900K, RTX 4090, 32 GB ram, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, TCA Airbus sidestick and quadrant, Reverb G2
August 3, 20205 yr With some of those recent media release MSFS in-game videos appearing, I've started watching real flight video footage of approach/landing at the same locations as being captured in MSFS for comparison purposes. I have to say I'm awfully impressed. Just finished watching Sedona footage and about the only difference of note is the sharper appearance and resolution of steep rock formations in the real world videos - but wow it's close. I'm very excited with the knowledge that it many places in the world, MSFS is going to give me such an accurate representation of what you would actually see. Even if you are someone who doesn't care about flying, I think MSFS is going to be a great virtual tourist program. Maybe that is one of the surprises that the developers wouldn't reveal in the recent Avsim interview. TPDs offering other vehicular options to travel around and see the MSFS world?

I was watching a similar vid and thing is that the scenery detail and resolution comes in layers and get's cached, so flying repeatedly over the same area will get better. August 3, 20205 yr Ah after 12 hours of listening to Princess pilots at work. This topic / / thread or whatever its called has cheered me up. Brilliant Thank you.

Great 🙂 I wonder then if Asobo would considering adding the option of allowing pre-caching of scenery for a new area that you plan on flying in later. Tell the sim your flight plan that you plan to do tomorrow morning, and some of the downloading and caching will get done overnight. I'm assuming that's not possible right now?

That should be possible, at least they said so last October. I haven‘t heard anything about pre-caching since then but I guess it will come. i9-11900K, RTX 4090, 32 GB ram, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, TCA Airbus sidestick and quadrant, Reverb G2

I must admit...the ability to download and cache scenery areas ahead of time before the flight would be a really nice feature. Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
