Saitek throttle convert from mini din to USB

Featured Replies

Years ago I purchased the Saitek yoke and throttle quadrant.  With this bundle, the throttle quadrant connects to the yoke with a mini din (looks like a ps2) connector.  I just purchased the Honeycomb yoke and want to still use the Saitek throttle quadrant.  I purchased a ps2 to usb converter, but not having any luck.  Any ideas as I do not want to purchase another Saitek usb throttle quadrant because I am waiting for the Honeycomb one to come up.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just got my Honeycomb and in same boat. So I've done what was suggested on a Honeycomb forum: keep saitek yoke plugged in with throttle quadrant connected; disconnect yoke settings in fsuipc and continue using throttles while waiting for Honeycomb throttle quadrant.

This is the solution (FSUIPC or not). This device has no relation to PS2 specs beyond using a DIN plug, the quadrant is a dumb appendage of the yoke and doesn't have its own HID controller board like the USB version does. The quad that ships with the yoke connects to the controller board inside the yoke and can't function without it. If it's really an issue you can rip the board out, cut a bunch of wires and throw the yoke away. Otherwise just keep the yoke plugged in, tweak a few settings and fly exactly like you did before.

What MarkDH is saying, without a HID controller. You have a Boat anchor.

I sold my Saitek yoke & quadrant on eBay.  Together they were worth something.  Unpaired the quadrant was likely worthless.  A year ago after seeing the advent of the Honeycomb yoke, I was aware enough to order a Logitech USB quadrant and so do not have this issue.  The USB quadrants once again appear to be readily available.

The Saitek yoke & quadrant still have value if offered together.  Mine was the Pro Cessna version and yoke and quadrant were in very good condition.  For reference my yoke and quadrant sold for just under $200.00 USA.

I did a video on how to Mod them using a Leo Bodnar controller board.  It could also be done with an Arduino but I find I really like the 12 Bit resolution on the the Leo Boards and I had one already..
