March 3, 20188 yr Making sure everyone got the word DD Miami City was updated. DD Site Forums are down for maintenance so not sure what was updated. Seems like they might have fixed the black building textures or they now render faster. Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 3, 20188 yr Yup, black textures when panning around has been improved a lot. Performance seems much better also in P3D 4.2
March 4, 20188 yr Thanks - I'd like to see some opinions on this. I had an earlier version but didn't like the detail of the airport buildings and how much of the autogen was replaced by flat photo realistic scenery. That scenery looked OK from higher up. But, at lower altitudes, I didn't like it and thought that the default scenery looked better. I also have the Seattle Cities X and airports and it looks so much better to me than Miami. March 4, 20188 yr Just wondering about one thing, In the FSX version most of the buildings depicted in Miami Beach are depicted as black or gray in color, when in reality those buildings are white, beige or as is the case of the high rise at the southeast tip of south beach - pink/red. Has DD made any changes in colors of these buildings on the barrier island of Miami Beach? I know it seems kind of petty to ask, but as my former hometown, I was hoping for a little more realism. Thanks Robert Marton

I'm now in sim heaven thanks to MSFS 2024 and hundreds of add-ons!
March 4, 20188 yr Don't forget straight from the P3D learning center not all Prepar3D.cfg tweaks are bad! [DISPLAY] TextureMaxLoad=6 Non-Default entry. This entry will not exist in your Prepar3D.cfg file by default and must be added to the file. Performance Tuning Tip: This can induce stutters. Use multiples of 3 only such as 3, 6, 9, etc. This is perfect for photorealistic scenery. slow building and airport ground texture loading i.e. black textures are greatly improved by this .cfg tweak. I my case I use a value of 51 with no impact on performance at all and I now virtually never see delayed texture loading. Your Millage may vary!
March 4, 20188 yr Author Found the changes in this version: Changes in the new version: - Better VAS management, faster texture loading - Textures of all city buildings visually enhanced - Miami Downtown now with night textures - KOPF and KTMB textures enhanced - FSW compatibility added Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! Just curious, what is the gain or loss by increasing from 3 to 51 if there is one? Or is it simply a random advantage based on your rig such as AffinityMask? I applied the 51 and then flew around DD New York City. I still had black popping but it was much faster. I didn't see any performance hit. I then flew around KMSP (3rd party) and had no popping of scenery where I have seen some with out this tweak. So I guess I am asking if there is an advantage to going with the higher number? Is there a standard number that seems to be the best for most rigs? Hoping to avoid testing from 3 to infinity...hahaha. Thanks and I look forward to your response. I found that any setting above 51 causes the sim to crash on my machine. The higher the value the quicker addon building and ground textures will load. Keep going until either you Performance is impacted or the sim crashes on start. That what I did.
March 4, 20188 yr AS it turns out my sim does not crash if I go higher than a Value of 51 for TextureMaxLoad. I was just messing around with it and set it to 150. Still no obvious impact on performance but that's all I'll say about it here. Looking for forward to checking out Miami City X V1.9 when PCaviator update my download link
