I've got to say, a PMDG 747-200 would just make my virtual hangar perfect. Not going to happen, but nice thought. They could give their AFE from the DC-6 another type rating and get him weaving his magic in a 742.

However, to say that because QW are making the 787 means PMDG have no need to consider it would be very shortsighted. As far as I can see, comparing the two would be like comparing the two most prominent A320 products in the sim world: I'm not saying either one is better than the other, but it is clear to me that they are aimed at different audiences and simmer levels. There are sim developers who cater for the 'lite' simmer, and they do a fantastic job. But that shouldn't eliminate the possibility of a company like PMDG doing a fully blown, minutely detailed sim for those of us who like operating the sim just as one would in the real aircraft.

Anyway, PMDG's next product is clearly Columbidae-related - Kyle's sig says so.

Would love to see the 777-200 and especially -200ER variants. Apart from them, 757 or 767.

I would like to see something fresh and modern. As with P3D v4 I want to look to the present and beyond for development. As much as I respects the classics ex. 757,767,md-80 etc. I think it would be cool to see the 737max or scimitar, new e170 with the present wingtips, or something of that nature. Again just a suggestion and nothing more.

I like your thought process!  A 747 Classic would be my favorite!  Hell, they could use the cockpit dimensions and layout of the 747-200 cockpit sitting in the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum right across the river from their hometown.  Having a detailed FE station would actually make pre-flight and cruise flight great again!  Then again, a 727 would be welcome as well.  RSR stated tonight that the DC-6 development team may have an announcement coming soon!  Hopefully, it is another classic for guys like you and I!

PMDG's next aircraft should be the A380.. end of discussion.. no one else in the sim industry can pull off an A380 except PMDG.. I know they are not as good pals with Airbus as they are with Boeing.. but just saying.. if at all they get access into the airbus inner circles, they can certainly pull this off.. plus, RSR is crazy about 4 engine widebodies, and SO AM I !!

...Next aircraft from this top-notch developer af all time? Sud aviation Caravelle! Simple as that, if anyone can do that its PMDG! (even thogh I know it wont happen, but this is just a wet dream... almost as wet as if they release the Convair 340 Metropolitan!)...

A PMDG 757 or 767 makes the most sense for their next commercial airliner.

 

Considering Mr Randazzo basically hates airbus (He once told a story about breaking an Airbus by either him or a guy near him hitting his head inside the cargo space), it's safe to assume airbus is not on the menu.

PMDG's first ever aircraft add on was a 757 for the flight simulator Fly! by TRI way back in the late 90's or early 2000's - I had a copy of that. Their next one was a 777.

But considering that the real world 757 sales have slowed (If not stopped completely), putting it into a kind of MD-11 type market position (unpopular) that leaves the 767 which remains one of the most popular Boeing aircraft of all time, and it is still being produced and purchased around the world. It also has a tanker variant coming out for the Air Force in the US.

A 767 would also have the benefit of being easily redeveloped into a 757 expansion later on once the initial development costs have been paid for.


So my guess is we'll see a 767, with possibly some other vintage or turboprop aircraft in the lineup first.

The production of the 757 ended in 2004, so it is, indeed, stopped completely, but I'm not sure if you can really compare it to the MD-11 in regards to it being unpopular, seeing as there are quite a few airlines that still have it. United, Delta, American, FedEx, UPS, DHL, I think Thomsonfly, Icelandair, and probably a few more I can't think of off the top of my head.

I doubt we'll see the 757 - since a few airliners are replacing their 757's with shiny new 737 max 10

I would love however a shiny new ATR 72-600 from PMDG - something regional - however, I really doubt we will see an ATR from PMDG

MILVIZ are deep in development of an ATR-72-600, no need for two. Not the same level, sure but MILVIZ are talented guys too so quality will be high.

Here is one pilot's take on the 757. A gentleman who is still actively flying both the 757 and 767 for a US airline. (I suspect for American)

I'm curious if he finds the passenger cabin of the 757 equally as skinny and uncomfortable, using a fuselage cross-section unchanged from the 707, engineered in the 1950s, given that both the 737 and the 757 have the same cross-section.

The best narrow body aircraft ever produced.

I have the Coolsky DC-9.  It is a fantastic sim package.  Combine it with the TSS soundpack and the 4k grey cockpit textures and wow!!!  Probably the coolest looking cockpit ever in the vintage jets...
