November 11, 201510 yr Author My monitor cuts out and doesn't come back on until a few minutes after i come out of fullscreen Vernon Howells
November 11, 201510 yr I'm have exactly the same issues that Vernon is experiencing with a second monitor. I only use the second monitor when I fly on VATSIM for chart references etc, but I find I have to fly within windowed mode on my main display because going full screen blanks out the second display. erich
November 11, 201510 yr Author Hi erich does your monitor switch off and doesn't come back on after a few minutes of coming out of full screen? Vernon Howells
November 11, 201510 yr Author Well the experience you have is normal it will go blank but the monitor is still on! Vernon Howells
November 11, 201510 yr Moderator Well the experience you have is normal it will go blank but the monitor is still on! No Vernon - it is FAR from NORMAL - that's the problem. It has something to do with the particular setup(s) and/or hardware - somehow they are not playing nice with P3D. November 12, 201510 yr Moderator Yup - I have a Hanns 28" as my main and a Viewsonic 22" as my second. When I fly, I have the panel on main and usually have ASN, PlanG, and a few other programs running on second monitor. The majority of people who run multiple monitors do not have the problem you describe. *something* in your setup doesn't like your second monitor - wish I knew what. Try reducing the resolution on your #2 monitor in the prepar3d.cfg file and see if that has any effect. Just as a test - try switching them - make the small lcd main and the big one the secondary and see if the same thing happens. November 13, 201510 yr Author Will do all this soon just heading home! Why change the resolution in the CFG ? Vernon Howells
November 13, 201510 yr Author Ok i made my LCD the main screen and it still blanks out. I think its the monitor! Vernon Howells
November 13, 201510 yr Moderator The resolution change is just to assure that you do NOT have the LCD resolution set to one that it cannot display. Changing it manually IN the cfg file should do that. It certainly is possible that there is either some setting specific to your monitor or some defect. Another thing to try - you said thy are both connected to a single card. exactly HOW are they connected? - HDMI, Display port, DVI etc. Also, try switching the monitors AT THE CARD - swap the connectors - see if that has any effect. Some video cards are set up so that you cannot mix HDMI and DVI, it must be one or the other - something you can check in the card's docs. Last, if you can borrow a monitor from a friend - see what happens when you plug that in. November 13, 201510 yr Author My small LCD is HDMI. I've tried DVI not luck. As before, i've had both ports working with FSX. Vernon Howells
November 13, 201510 yr Author I'm onto something. In my P3D cfg my small LCD says mode=1080x1920x32 But it should be 1024x768x32 Why is it changing it? My FSX.CFG shows 1024x768x32 So why is P3D being funny? So thats why its cutting out I HAVE SOLVED IT I used DVI and matched my resolution in game and on my settings Vernon Howells
November 13, 201510 yr Moderator I HAVE SOLVED IT Whew! Congrats! Now go fly and enjoy! Vic RIG#1 - 7700K 5.0g ROG X270F 3600 15-15-15 - EVGA RTX 3090 1000W PSU 1- 850G EVO SSD, 2-256G OCZ SSD, 1TB,HAF942-H100 Water W1064Pro 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
November 14, 201510 yr Author Yeh great BUT i can't use HDMI to HDMI because somehow P3D is showing higher resolutions than my monitor can't use. I've tried changing it in the CFG but it keeps changing back. Do you think HDMI to DVI D on my GPU would work? I've got a DVI D port spare so could try that but unsure if HDMI to DVI D would even work Vernon Howells
