June 14, 200521 yr It is with my pleasure atleast as a Detroit Flyer to give props to imagine simulations rendition of KDTW. This scenery is awesome and almost exact. I feel that KDTW is one of the quote unquote "Abused Airports of FS9" I live about 10 minutes from this airport and while I don't get to much of the rumbles of jet engines over my house except on bad weather days I do see all of the traffic from this airport. I can say that on numerous occasions and almost daily now there is a never ending stream of commercial and GA traffic leaving this airport non stop from sun up to sun down. I just wanted to let you guys know that if you been looking for this scenery , this is the one you want. It is almost exact and bueatiflly rendered. And at only 20 bucks you can't go wrong . Happy Flying!
June 14, 200521 yr I agree! I live seven miles from DTW (right under the 22L approach) it is truly a non-stop stream of aircraft. It was so nice to see someone take an interest in the airport and give it what it needed. The designers have been great about helping me tweak mine to get it just right for me. June 14, 200521 yr $20.00 for KDTW? Ouch.15 miles N of KDTW. How does it compare to the "freeware" work done in the library here that looks real?
June 15, 200521 yr BoDean, I have had all the freeware KDTW scenery and upgrades since FS98. This payware version is spectactular. It's worth the $20 just for sight seeing in slew mode. They even have the Berry Terminal under construction with cranes. It's a frame rate killer, however (as all big airport sceneries are). We should probably get all the SE Michigan Flight Simmers together for some meeting. Did you ever see the Nomads 727-200adv? Their terminal/clubhouse is on Middlebelt. Cheers, Bruce Freeburger Roseville, MI

June 15, 200521 yr Yea I agree! they did a Great Job! Do any of you that live close by contact me via E-mail?? I am trying to adjust the AFCAD for this Airport in FS, but don't really have any good info, as to where the Airlines park and at What Terminals?? I know where NWA OParks Via A.net pics, but the rest of the Terminlas i need info! I would apprecite the Holla Via E-mail! Thank's MIKE E-mail.. [email protected]
June 15, 200521 yr I did a lot of tooling around with AI in FS 2002. I would set up an outside view, and just let things run like some model train set. To prevent AI traffic jams, and also make things more realistic, edit the AFCAD file. Close down the two 9/27 runways. They are not used in reality. The two inside runways are for take off only. The outer two are for landings only. It was in FS 2002, but I had to clip some short taxiways that caused traffic bottle necks. Cheers, Bruce F
June 15, 200521 yr Vern, I was at the Pontiac/Oakland airport open house in 2003. They had a local school giving Flight Simulator demos. I think they had 4 tubes set up. Some options I thought up. Michigan FS'ers could meet with that teacher in that school. We could help the school in optimising the software, and their console add-ons. Maybe donate hardware and help set it up. Find a GA airport that has a tube or two, and has space for a meeting. Have a monthly speaker. Speakers could be CFI's, hardware guru's, whatever. My church in Eastpointe has a computer lab. We have 5 tubes, but they are 166 mhz, with 128 mb ram. We are working on some 1 ghz. PIII's. With that, we could have some meetings there. We have a Comcast business line. Another option is the Civil Air Patrol Cadets. We could get a group of power users to help them set up tubes. There are also EAA chapters. I used to be a member of SEMCO. It was, and still is, an umbrella club that covers all brands of computers. A Windows subgroup could be formed for FS2004. What do the rest of you Michiganders think? Cheers, Bruce
June 15, 200521 yr I too would like to get together with the SE Michigan flight simmers. It would be great to get to talk to some other simmers rather than just using messages. Am in the Dearborn Hgts. area. Would like to see this come together.Regards,Joe Regards, Joe Esposito
June 16, 200521 yr I was at that open house with the Cap unit and giving cadet o flights and demoing our 182 to the public. We have given a Cap presentation to that teacher and his class-small world!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
June 17, 200521 yr Geoffrey, I missed the 2004 KPON Open house. It was me that talked to you at the 2003 one. I am also a DSO subscriber. What is that school that has the Flight Simulator club? BTW, did you sell the Debonair? We can plan a Detroit area FS user get together at the KPON Open House August 14. Willow Run has the Yankee Air Museum show August 6-7. Cheers, Bruce
June 17, 200521 yr Small world!I think the school is Crary Middle School in Waterford.I did sell the Deb suddenly in January! Kinda like losing a member of the family after 11 years....The Open house would probably be a great get together place! Please come up and say hello at the dso at your next chance. It is amazing how many aviation friends I have met there-one of who I have been flying with for 10 years.-p.s. did you see the opening ceremonies at the Piston's game Tuesday? :-)Geofhttp://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
June 17, 200521 yr Detroit area resident who's been using FS since inception. Might be interested in getting together, too. I usually fly out of KPTK since I live less than 2 miles southeast of it. Last year my son and I did our first helo ride at the open house. We flew almost right over our house. BTW, the Ford Tri-Motor is back in town. I saw it flying around last Tuesday afternoon. I need to buya ride on it. They use the proceeds for renovation and usage of the aircraft. I hinted about it to my wife the other day as a great Father's Day gift.
June 18, 200521 yr Geoffry, I can't get interested in watching stick and ball sports. What happened, more violins at a Pistons game? . If the format is the same at the August KPON Open House, I think I'll try to set a social meeting time for Flight Sim users. Possibly have a sign up sheet for those interested in having regular meetings. There is a lot of things, such as hands on instruction, tours of airports, demos of hardware, that just can't be done online. I was in the old CompuServe Motor Sports Forum. We would have meetings before the Michigan NASCAR and CART races of online people. They were fun. Cheers, Bruce F
