Going down the English Channel today heading along the English south coast, there are two naval ships with Danish flags heading west towards the Isle of Wight. I note that the rear one seems to be superimposed as two vessels! About to land on the deck pad and one part of the stern, up to the funnels, disappeared into the other!!!

Also, there was a vessel near Dover, blue and white heading east, where the smoke was rising some 30 meters from the stern!

Hope this helps. The Channel wasn't busy during my flight.

Hi

If the blue and white vessel was a containership with cranes, then you most likely did not apply the fix for 75 AI Ships correctly, as it resolves that problem. If you believe that was the ship, then send me an MP an I can send you a replacement folder with the correct content.

Regards to the double ship, which dissappears into itself... Did you change plane during your flight? When you do that strange things happens to the AI ships; e.g. they appear double. I never tried to land on one of the doubles, so I can't tell if it gives the effect you describe, but it could be.

If you can give coordinates for what you see it helps me a lot in checking if there is a problem.

I just installed/updated all the packages yesterday and was very pleased with it. A special moment was when I was waiting for take off in Skiathos and a big container ship appeared from behind the hills. It looked as if it was crossing the runway itself.

So I just wanted to say thank you, Henrik!

Cheers

Henrik, all downloads were placed in SimObjects>Boats on 17/05, 20/05, 27/05, 28/05, 27/06, the total number being 220 vessels, after over writing, etc.

If you tell me the total number of vessels altogether that there should be - it can then be a process of elimination. Also, the vessel in question, I have seen before, but none of vessels had smoke other than from the stack. There was no change of aircraft, other than I started in KL and down to Singapore and then changed airport to Manston (Kent) and then down the English Channel.

As to come across the the same positions, being a different day/time, I'll see what I can find.

Henrik, update from earlier!

Started at Southampton at around Z1030 wheels up and down through Southampton Water and into the Solent then from Portsmouth Harbour Eastwards. The first vessels were two US Navy  ships at N50 43 026 W0 14 30 at Z1139 travelling West and they looked OK with no issues on the stern landing decks (Emphasis on TWO naval vessels). Then flew along coast to Dover upto Felixstowe with not much shipping. Then down to Southend (refuel) and up the Thames to just West of Tilbury Docks. Back along the Thames to Margate (roads) shipping starts to increase. Directly across the southern North Sea, more vessels on the Belgium/French side. Follow West to Cap Gris Nez and then 270Deg straight across and West to Selsey Bill and then towards the Isle of Wight. At approx N50 43 W0 40 85 I picked up three naval vessels. The two US ones now heading East and 1.5nm behind and inline heading East was a Danish naval vessel.

What I believe I saw yesterday was that I came across the three naval vessels, where the middle vessel (US Navy) was superimposed with the Danish one! Why that would have been, I have no idea, but was determined today to hunt them down.

As for the Royal Blue and White vessel, did not see her today.

Off the East end of the Isle of Wight several vessels steaming towards the Solent, possibly for Southampton Water. Hovering over one of them, FSX  crashed to desk top, Ouch

Good evening,

Knud has been searching and found the three navy ships; effectively they perform a bit strange - even if they are set to have the same speed and should normally have space between them it is like they catch up; I think the problem is due to the avoidance the AI ships do when they get to close so probably we just need to space them a bit more. We will look into that, but not today. Regards to the crash - if you think it is related to a ship we need more exact info to be able to help. None of the ships however should be capable of creating a CTD in FSX.

Henrik

This is very very cool!

Just took a flight from KRHV (San Jose) north to KSTS (Sonoma) which goes up across the east side of the San Francisco bay. Counted 19 ships! Five were at anchor across from Oakland, which can normally be seen from ATT Park in real life. A couple were at the Port of Oakland loading docks, several steaming through/across the bay, and many docked at the various refineries waiting to unload. Amazing amount of ships!

I think I have to reapply the P3D "wakes to the sky" fix, though: 18 of the ships were fine, but one still had the wakes to the sky. Makes them easy to spot from a distance, that's for sure.

Thank you to Henrik and the rest of the team - really a terrific addition to the flightsim experience!

Martin, I just took a flight from Shoreham at 11.25Z heading south and soon found the three (beautiful) navy vessels, steaming along with the two US in front and the Danish in third. I saw no problems with them imposed into each other, so maybe I was just lucky :-)

BTW. this was in FSX SE, don't know if that makes any difference.

To Henrik and crew, you have really made a fantastic piece of ai software here, can't believe you don't make it payware, it's far better than many other fsx programs out there.

Make an installer and an editor where we can make our own routes, and I'll be first in line to buy it.

Another thought: With AI Planes you can get radars, or flight planning software, where you can see where the ai planes are. In fsx you can also put labels with dep/arr airports, heading etc. on the ai planes.

Is it possible to make something similar with the ai ships?

Jorn, Henrik has arranged for the three vessels to have a greater distance apart. It is being tested and I am sure he will respond when he is back from his travels.

Hi,

First of all, please let me thank Henrik and the team once again for their excellent addition to FSX/P3D. Can't imagine flying in PNW without it..

I also wanted to report two little things I've noticed:

1. "Orla" still has a "skybound" wake in P3D2. I was able to adjust the FX file, but this might be something to check for a future update.

2. Flying along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, I've noticed occasional "laser beams" that extend for miles and miles into dry land. I initially thought they were rendering artifacts, but they seem to be the wake from the Maersk "Nucleus" (possibly other ships, but I've only been able to pinpoint that one).

Thanks again :-)

Hi Tym,

Thanks for the feedback - there might be an issue related to certain settings - I cannot see the problems you describe in P3Dv2.5, but we will do some more testing with different settings. And it will eventually come on the list for the patch.

Regards to the earlier mentioned issue with the 3 navy ships sailing through each other south of England we have found the issue and an update route will also be in the patch together with a small visual improvement for the HMS Bounty.

As we can now confirm there will have to be a patch  please make your observations; preferably with screenshots with time, date, and position. There is no deadline yet for the patch, but I expect it will be out in a couple of weeks, as all issues found so far has been smaller cosmetically issues and not something affecting performance of the sim.

Henrik

Hi Henrik!

Spent a couple of hours with the three naval vessels between Shoreham and Beachy Head this afternoon. Found them and they were nicely spread out in line and happy to land on each of them!

By the time I finished and was happy on the deck of the first vessel, the second vessel was in the wake of the first one. However, the distance to the last vessel had not changed, I will suspect that the first vessel had dropped back to the second vessel!

Hope this helps, as I did use your amended file.

Take Care!

Thanks - the problem apart from the space between them is that they have different top speeds set - also the new route you use has a higher speed set than the max speed of the ships. Therefore as the ships accelerate some will only reach 25 knots while others will accelerate to 30 knots and consequently overpass the others. A new route is being done.. :)

The new package is excellent.  Brings life to Ketchikan, Alaska; What a great touch, the bow wave...so realistic. Funny that ORBX never thought to include marine scenery (not static) as part of the x.flow library. Here, prior to this project, we had beautifully rendered land scenery, but bodies of water, totally devoid of life, alongside ORBX marine-near-by airport titles.

This has been corrected by this great project...what a difference now, anywhere in the world....the oceans, and Great Lakes have truly been integrated into the total delivery of virtual reality....

Here are four shots below, around ORBX's Ketchikan, of varied marine traffic...that was NEVER seen before in the scenery.  You really (if you own this scenery) have to re-fly all the inlets, fjords, harbors...to see just what this Ship Project has inserted.  Some of it, you have to look twice...for instance the boat and ship insertions along the quays of Ketchikan...that was NOT THERE, in the original ORBX release. Fabulous...simply fabulous

....another comment, before back to exploring...is that as you now fly around the ORBX sceneries, it now MAKES SENSE, the varied marinas...harbors...etc folks...for you see 'live action' coming and going out of them. The one shot above, that has a few fishing boats out upon the water, was never there,...in front of that ORBX marina...now...you feel the scene is real...totally real for the first time.  That is what is so great about this project. That nobody would be out and about upon the virtual water-ways..just never cut it.....until now!

Just landed, 30 miles from ORBX Ketch.....

Hi Hendrik!  The crash to desktop, I can now be more precise:

N50 37 36 W1 7 16 (give or take a few seconds). It is an Auto Carrier (not a ferry) and a Rig Supply vessel that seem to come together from different directions. Time approx Z1400.

I had already been over that spot from Bembridge with no problem, when watching the 3 naval vessels waiting off Portsmouth, along with others turning around, then the two tugs entering Portsmouth Harbour before they stopped off Whale Island.
