July 15, 201213 yr Dirk, no, these are just ExperienceX, with the UTX lights disabled entirely. The underlying road data comes from UTX, though. Greg, it wasn't actually that complicated from my point of view--I installed Experience X, disabled UTX night lighting, found that highway lights weren't showing to my satisfaction, and contacted the developer. At his request I sent my terrain.cfg, which he modified and sent back. I still wasn't happy, so he re-edited it and sent it back. This time the highway lights were working as shown above. James Very nice, James, finally UTX can be used at night with not much FPS impact. Cheers, Dirk.
July 15, 201213 yr James, can you share the tweaks ? or do we have to contact the developer ourselves ?
July 15, 201213 yr Moderator Here are some "after" pictures of New York City--you can see that the highways clearly have larger yellow lights in contrast to the smaller white lights spread through the populated areas. Before the tweaks the highways were barely showing any lights, even after disabling UTX night lights. The terrain.cfg tweaks by the developer fixed the problem. James That looks pretty nice James. After seeing your and Rick's pics I think I might go ahead and pick this up today. James, can you share the tweaks ? or do we have to contact the developer ourselves ? +1 for that. It would be cool James if you could paste the relevant section of your terrain.cfg for us to see so that we could skip having to contact the developer. July 16, 201213 yr Just bought this and checked out a few places. It's great to have these lights all over the world now, but was disappointed to see that the night textures get replaced. I have all the GEX textures, and much prefer their night textures. I read earlier that the developer has a hotfix available for GEX North America and Europe, so I'm going to look into that. I hope that eventually these lights will be made compatible with all UTX and GEX products. I read that the developer is going to release an update in September which will include several user-customizable features, which would be great. So far, I'm impressed. Really looking forward to the update and future compatibilty patches. Thanks! I just read the product page and its only a 143 mb download and it doesn't mention texture replacements. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

July 16, 201213 yr James, so if I understand things right in order to have the nice lights you have we have to : disable night lighting (utx), install this software and copy/paste those lines above into our terrain.cfg ? thanks
July 16, 201213 yr You sure about that? I just read the product page and its only a 143 mb download and it doesn't mention texture replacements. Yes, I'm certain. I just restored the original textures from the backup and sure enough my old GEX night textures are back. I think the developer should have told customers about this considering that many of us don't want our textures overwritten without our knowledge. On a positive note, I believe the developer is working on patches to make the product compatible with GEX and UTX. July 16, 201213 yr Holy mac, I want to keep my gex and utx textures. That means I'll have wait for the compatibility patch right ?
July 17, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hello everyone, I come here to clarify that our product ExperienceX modifies the default FSX textures night . For users GEX, the hotfix preserves the textures of the night GEX. For UTX users, we have to modify the file terrain.cfg manually. Our support to this disposal. thanks bracket beetleprint.
