CRJ

Hello all again, I figured starting a new post about the CRJ from Feelthere might be a good idea since it will grow quickly. To start things off, I think it is a big let down. Frame rates are so bad in VC mode / The guages lag way behind. You can't read them unless you zoom in, then you lose perspective. if you try to pull out alittle bit, you can't click anything. Textures are slow loading as well as poor (Blurry) in alot of areas. I am not a pilot, but I must say the manuals lack alot of info about how to fly the plane, especially the auto pilot. Let me re-phrase THEY STINK!! I hope someone at feelthere sees this, you better be ready for a ton of complaints, not to mention demands of refunds. The site and description look 10,000 times better than the delivered product. Now I will add that I have not spent alot of time on this... 8 hrs at most, but man , what a drag. I have no problem with the PMDG737 as well as eaglesoft's Citation CX. Feelthere may want to take a closer look at those products, Mainly the citation CX. Frame rates are great,2d & VC has amazing textures and they load 10x as fast, The manual explains in detail how to use all systems in the aircraft. You get the point. If I was a reviewer for one of these flight sim sites, your product would get a -100 score. I have seen freeware better than this. Again, this is just my opinion...as of now. But somebody had to step up and feelthere needs to know what's going on. I hope I did not upset anyone out there. I just try to be honest. I would like to see what others think....it should be interesting. J. Moss

Hi J.You are totally intitled to your opinion.I actually quite like the CRJ, the FDE is very good, I do agree that the manuals are a little poor.It is not in the PMDG 737 league, maybe I should expect more for my

MossDid you try positng your issues in the FeelThere forum with an attempt at having your issues solved/recognized or did you just come here to complain?Sorry, but FeelThere has a forum for you to state your issues with their product. Complaining about them here does nothing for you OR the aircraft.

Double post

Hi Shane, You are right, I was just looking for feedback. I should have waited and cooled down before blowing up on here. I will go to the other forum. Dan, you said you get great frame rates. Could you be so kind as to post your settings and specs. I would do almost anything to improve the performance. The CRJ has the worst of frame rates for me without the cabin as well. Again, sorry for my post. J. Moss

J. Moss:We all appreciate hearing individual takes on new products so that the other buyers can be aware. There are certain crass individuals who think you shouldn't do that. Ignore them. I'm glad to read your individual report on the CRJ, and I think I'll keep my plastic in its holster till we hear how they sort this out. Thanks for your opinion!"The face of a child says a lot about that child, especially the mouth part of the face" I couldn't agree more! Ironic isn't it.

I haven't been condescending or mean to anyone. I stated I didn't agree with somebody elses opinion and you felt the need to call me condescending, go look up the word.My response to Jmoss was not intended to be mean either i just called it as I saw it and according to Jmoss himself he was a little hot tempered. We have all been there you just seem to reside there.P.S. If I seem condescending towards you it is because I think you are being an ####.I'm taking my wife out to dinner now with her family to watch the hockey game but I will probably be back later if you want to follow me some more.Have fun, Rightseat.

ShaneThis belongs in the hardware forum but this is the only place I can find you. Just wondering what you use for cooling. I have a P4c 2.6 running at 3.38, 50 deg C under load, stock cooling and voltage, on an Asus P4P800 Deluxe. Sure would like to run it at 3.8 ghz.ThanksDavidHope the game was a good one.

I also took the plunge and my system specs are pretty much top notch and I have to agree that this bird is only a hair better than the PMDG express Beech.I also own ES CITX and the PMDG NG and they are leaps above the FT CRJ.The only positives about this bird are the sounds and FDE.If Wilco offered a refund I would be first inline.Andy

I AM a CRJ fan...but I deliberately held off on this one until I read some "hands-on" reviews. I believe this is a good forum for telling others of their experiences. I know there are "specific" forums for things, but I always come here...the MS FLIGHT SIMULATOR forum to get my info on my hobby.I am very glad to hear your impression. And I will hold off even more now until I hear that the developer has at least acknowledged your concerns and addressed them somehow.Free speech is becoming "endangered" in this country more every day, and I'm kind of fed up with others who want to remain politically correct on everything. Tell it like it is, and be brave to do so.There are many of us who are in your corner for speaking up and telling it like it is. Stan

I'm a CRJ fan too. While it's not in the class of a PMDG 737 (not much is), I'm happy. I had an issue that I posted on their boards and it was resolved in under 2 minutes. The aircraft itself looks wonderful, the panel(s) are superb, as are the sounds, and from what I can tell the model itself is great. The FMC is not the best out there, but it's functional. In short, it's the best regional jet available now by far. And it'll get better. rgds, billg

I see that my recent post started some stuff. I do think I was wrong just to blast feelthere on here, but I was really angry, and took all of my system problems out on them. On a good note: I think if the CRJ had icons for opening panels, like other aircraft do EX: PMDG, Eaglesoft etc...that would be the first step in the right direction, updating the manuals would also be more helpful to some of us. The plane could be a great addition to any flight sim pilot. I saw a post on feelthere's forum about the frame rates. http://www.iemit.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=402 They said the problem is mostly with ATI card owners, they are going to release a patch when the 700 / 900 come out, but the quality of the texures won't be as good. At least that's a start. It does suck just spending another $250.00 on my 9800pro. I am now thinking of a NVIDIA card. Maybe thats the answer?? If anyone on this forum has one of them, let me know how it is working out for you, and which one to by so I can return the ATI. I have 12 days left to do so. Like I said before, I would do anything to get the best performance possible. I am obsessed with making this flightsim work perfectly, so I can help others do the same. I plan on opening a website soon just for this purpose. If anyone has any suggestions what you would like to see, let me know. Regards, J.Moss

Yeah, that's pretty much my view of it too. Although not in class with PMDG I find the panel and VC much nicer and more readable than the blurry and somewhat cartoonish ones in Eaglesofts Cit X. But that's just my opinion though! :-)rgrdsfredrik granfors

Hello,Here is a response I made to the FRAMERATE PROBLEMS(Virtual Cockpit performance) thread http://www.iemit.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=402 ...-------------------------------FRAMERATE PROBLEMS(Virtual Cockpit performance) Hi Victor,I hope we will be able to keep the high quality 32-bit Virtual Cockpit textures if we want when installing the service pack. If not I'll just back mine up before installing it. Personally, I'm using an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro with v4.2 Catalyst drivers and I'm not having any FPS or blurry problems in the Virtual Cockpit(VC) when using the No Virtual Cabin model. I see some shimmering on the gauges in the VC, yes, but no blurries. I am getting good framerates in the CRJ VC, regardless of whether my mouse pointer is visible or not.The shimmering is a known issue with ATI cards and be seen when viewing scenery. Shimmering is noticeable the most on the trees in the scenery. It is also noticeable in other areas. For instance in your CRJ VC and the Eaglesoft Citation X VC.The upside to using an ATI card is that it does not Anti-Alias the clouds. Thereby letting you use a high setting for Anti-Aliasing and get good framerates with lots of clouds. If what people are seeing in the VC is shimmering, then I think converting the VC textures to DXT3 will buy some framerates for people with lower system specs, at the expense of quality. I do not think it will cure the shimmering gauges.(end of post)-------------------------------What do I think of the CRJ. I think it's very nice, although I haven't flown it much yet. I'd say the panels are very nice, including the VC. You do need to zoom in on the VC to see the gauges good. But if you do zoom in it's very clear. You can also pull up very readable oversized 2D versions of the VC gauges by using SHIFT+#(SHIFT+6 through SHIFT+9) I don't mind having to click SHIFT+# to pull up panels and gauge pop-ups too much. Having some Simicons would perhaps be ok but it really doesn't bother me much that the panels don't have them. So far I think I'd have to say the plane is probably worth it considering it has an FMS/FMC. You don't see planes come out every day that have a functional FMS. There is what I considered to be an issue(s) right off the bat though with the FMS database. I will also paste it in here to help others form an opinion. So far I, like others, find the model, fde, sounds, and textures to all be top notch. With what little time I've spent with this plane I like it quite a bit! I just wish the FMS database was better. If you are having performance issues in the VC when using the 'No Virtual Cabin model' of this CRJ then I think you probably either have an issue with your system or your system specs are not high enough. The proposed DXT3 textures for the VC in a service pack will probably help people that do not have high enough system specs and are having FPS problems in the VC. How much it will help is something I don't know of course.-------------------------------FMS Database issue*** Hi,I just tried my first flight with the CRJ. The first airport I started at and tried to enter, KMWH - Grant County International in the state of Washington USA, into the FMC shows as 'Invalid'. I went ahead and entered KDEN into the FMC and that came up ok. But what's wrong with KMWH? KMWH is not the largest airport around, but it's certainly not a small airport either!Jim*** Jim,There are some smaller airport that's missing from dafif, that we've used to get navigational source. The solution is (even if not the greates, but at least it would let you fly) to go to a known airport set POS INIT then go to KMWH and on the pos init page just cut and paste the current coordinates. You can always file a flightplan within FS and import it into the FMS it should recognise airports that may not in it's database.Victor*** Wow Victor, that was a quick reply! Well, what I did for now was just hit SHIFT-Z and entered my coordinates at KMWH into the FMC manually. Not a huge problem, but I would have thought this airport would be in the database. Again, it's the first airport I tried out with the FMS so I was a little bewildered. Now that I think about it I would say this airport is a small to medium sized airport. Probably medium sized.Anyway, entering in the POS INIT coordinates manually using info from SHIFT-Z is not a problem with me as long as it works!Cheers,Jim***There are problems with major airports too. I've just taken a flight from EKCH to EDDT. No SID/STARs at all. Honestly guys you should update that. There are so many ommisions its hard to think the problem was with dafif since all other addons have these ones in their FMC.Danny***Ok, problem arises again on the next step of programming the FMC. KMWH is invalid as an origin on the Flight Plan page. I guess I will do as you suggest and make a flight plan in FS2004 and import it into the FMS. I'm hoping you would consider expanding the database in a future update to include more airports so they are recognized by the FMS and to include the functionality that Danny mentions above.Jim(end of posts)-------------------------------Regards,Jim3.06 GHz Intel P4 on Asus P4T533-C(533 MHz FSB), 1 GB PC1066 Samsung RDRAM, NEC MultiSync FE2111SB 22" Monitor, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro Videocard w/ v4.2 Catalyst Drivers, DirectX 9.0b, Creative Audigy2 Soundcard, 120 GB w/8 MB Cache Western Digital HD
