March 13, 201214 yr The workaround works ok for panning it just doesn't completely return to center most of the time, so you end up needing to hit the eyepoint center button a lot. Still cool that folks figured out that workaround, it's better than nothing for me, and definitely worth doing, but I look forward to official smooth and centered TrackIR support. --John near KPAE
March 13, 201214 yr The lack of TIR kills Flight for me, simply because I don't want to waste such a top rate experience without it!!!! So I'm waiting, and have sent my courteous but compelling email explaining my position to MS....and will do so every two weeks or so until they deliver. Heck, I pay $10 for 6DOF TIR if they required it. March 13, 201214 yr ...and include another line that you don't want to spend more money on Kinect.Grrrrr...just look at the Flight facebook page. The writing for Kinect is already on the wall...I hope they'll still consider TrackIR as an alternative and let users decide wether they want to look like a cyborg when sitting in front of the computer or not. Regards, Tom
March 13, 201214 yr Commercial Member Grrrrr...just look at the Flight facebook page. The writing for Kinect is already on the wall...Come on !! it only cost $$$ 150flight will not be completed without kinnect !! and Ms know this very very well !!
March 13, 201214 yr The problem for me is that if I ever buy Kinect, it will most likely be limited for use in Flight. And I don't want to spend more money on a piece of hardware if I already have one that serves the same purpose.If I hadn't bought TrackIR two years ago, I would be intrigued by Kinect support. Well, I guess I'm just being selfish right now for wanting TrackIR support. Regards, Tom
March 13, 201214 yr The problem with TrackIR is that Microsofts target market would consider wearing beanie hats with leds or whatever uncool, so thats not going to happen...And how many FFB joysticks are available now for new purchasers?Amazon.com have only the G940 for $250 (and a couple of MS FFB2s for $400!) - thats a lot for new 'simmers' and arguably the G940 is 'wrong' for GA anyway.I would be very happy if my MS FFB2 was supported, but not sure that is going to happen either. My Av8R works well enough (better with Flight than with any other sim I think).FSX never did FFB worth a d**n either.I really don't think not buying the DLC will have any impact on M$ strategy, and the RV is the best $20 I've spent on simming...CheersKeith ...
March 13, 201214 yr I really don't think not buying the DLC will have any impact on M$ strategy...This obviously depends on the number of people not buying A.
March 13, 201214 yr The entire installed user base of FSX could "not buy" Flight DLC and it wouldn't make enough difference in the number of DLC sold for Microsoft to measure.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
March 13, 201214 yr The entire installed user base of FSX could "not buy" Flight DLC and it wouldn't make enough difference in the number of DLC sold for Microsoft to measure.I am not sure about this. It would be probably true if they add some "military" DLC that can attract young fans of battles, but if Flight remain completely civilian, I don't think that MS will find millions of new users, completely unaware of the old Simulator line. I also checked some generalist videogame sites, as Gamespot. The users interested in Flight seem very few (only 43 votes), and the average score is 5.1/10. So it is not clear where these hordes of new enthusiasts are, just after some weeks from the launch, usually the period of maximum visibility.A.

Ride piggyback on popular TV shows like Flying Wild Alaska or Ice Pilots, combine this with the Alaska scenery and some interesting missions and the people will come in droves. Regards, Tom

Maybe MS should also think to use more general channels if they want to reach a global audience.A.
March 13, 201214 yr I agree with you, even though here in Germany FWA is on TV. But different markets just need different marketing campaigns. Regards, Tom
