Removing tinted windows in Carenado FSX aircraft, please?

Featured Replies

I could not find a definitive answer. I have numerous Carenado FSX aircraft, which I really like. Unfortunately, as awesome scenery such as OrbX continues to grow causing me fly GA aircraft more, my wonderful Carenado airplanes are collecting dust in the hanger because I don't care for the tinted windows. Is there any easy way for me to remove them? If I lose glass reflection I am OK with it. Thanks.

have you checked the individual plane sections under carenado main site. When I look I see lots of people who modded this. Will also help if you say for which plane you want it.

Cessna 172, Cessna 182RG, Cessna 185F Bush, Cessna 206G, Piper Archer II, Piper Saratoga, Beech Bonanza F33A, Beech Bonanza F35B, and Mooney M20J. Wow, turns out I'm a better customer than I thought. Money Eyes.gif Anyway with all these aircraft I don't remember off the top which all have tinted windows (maybe all?), but I would like to remove them if I can. One of my favorites to fly is the Mooney, but it's the worst with those blue windows, especially at dusk. Yes I did go to Carenado's website and looked at the individual planes. I don't see anything helpful there. All I see is links for videos, reviews, etc. Where exactly are you looking to see mods? I must be looking in the wrong place. Thanks.

Thanks bliksimpie, but sometimes google is my actually my enemy. LOL When I goggled this topic (which included the links you provided and more) I got way to much conflicting information, plus some dead links etc or people talking about it, but with no real answers. I came here hoping there might one fairly simple mod I could do that would work on each aircraft. Most of that techy talk just goes over my head. I appreciate you trying to help though, but I think I'm stuck with the tinted windows.

How about naming just one aircraft to kick off with? I get the impression you're looking for a magic wand to wave over FSX and all the tinted windows will disappear. Unfortunately, FSX ain't like that.

I know there is no magic wand, but was just hoping there might be one simple mod I could apply to each aircraft that would fix me up. For example make a change to something in the aircraft CFG file, you know that sort of thing I am capable of. There is a couple links above that outline the same procedure, however it's serveral steps, I don't understand the lingo, and much more involved that I am comfortable with. If I could pick one aircraft to start with it would be the Mooney M20J. There is a thread above on the Mooney, but it seems like I would have to find my proof of purchase (which I have somewhere), email Carenado and ask for a file, and then they may or may not reply and send me one? If thats what it takes fine, but if I could do something that was easier, I would. Even if Carenado sent me a file, I'm not sure I would know what to do with it, unless it came with instructions.

geesh. Ok Ron thanks, i dont know if you have the mooney. I dont have so I cant even try to make correction myself.. anyway it is not my best point.. never was..Lets see if we can help this man. Are you member of "backcountry club" Do you know a "sky_6" He might be able to help as he seem to have the clear files.. according to http://forum.avsim.n...tinted-windows/ we can maybe also try davenicoll. I am sure I have seen him over at ORBX. The other guy who also always adjust the window tint I think is Stephen (canada)

Do you have the mooney FSX vanilla version or is it the FS9 vesion that has been ported over to FSX.

Take these textures and place (don't forget to backup the originals) them in: FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\Carenado Mooney\textures. You may have to paste them into the other paints you have. If you have trouble with this procedure try the Aerosoft forum. http://www.finnglish.co.uk/Stuff/flight/mooney_windows.zip

I'm thinking it has to be the FSX version, no? I found my receipt and I bought it from justflight.com on April 5 , 2010. It says FSX on the receipt. I usually buy direct from Carenado, but apparently not on that day. Maybe it was on sale there, somtimes prices do vary. Anyway thanks Ron I will try that out tonite when I get a chance.
