At what cost would you want Fly!2 products to continue?

Featured Replies

I think the 757 with what its missing would easily go for $100. I would buy it if it COMPLETELY simulated the 757.

I've been lurking about the various AVSIM.com forums and have learned a tremendous amount about the flight sim community out there, and about people in general, and specifically, about how the corporate world works. It's a shame that, although a very good product I'm sure, MSFS2K? seems that it's going to be "the only game in town" within the next year or two. I certainly hope that you guys at PMDG can make your magic work within the MS framework. The last version of MSFS I tried was 98 and, compared to Fly!2k, couldn't hold a candle. Even with Fly!II and all it's bugs, there are certain restrictions within the MSFS environment that I just wouldn't trade. With that said, I've made backup copies of all my PMDG stuff on CD-Rom's and once you guys switch over to MSFS2K? then I suppose you would've lost me as a customer... only becuase of my disinterest in MS, no PMDG itself. However, you will gain (as I've read in previous posts) a new customer base from which to work and, hopefully, you guys can start to break even or, ohmygosh... even make money! It would be nice (and poetic justice) if the money you potentially made thru MS could help support TRI and Fly, provided there's still a base.Yes... guess you can call me a die-hard and dedicated Fly user... just baking in the southern California desert!Take care, folks!John [email protected]!2K MAC/FlyII PC UserPalm Springs, California, USA

Okay, I've gotta deal for you... You guys take over production of Fly! III, upgrade the sim and release it near bug-free with a PMDG 737/757 or 767/777 suite in there and I've got a check for $200 USD waiting for ya! I'm dead serious!! :(Honestly, for the quality of add-ons you guys make, $100 USD is really a fair price. Yeah, I know $100 is sorta steep for some, but it's actually on par with costs in real aviation world...try buying "official" 757/767 training software/texts much less sim time.*S* Also consider the hours of enriching, educational entertainment you get from PMDG add-ons! But the truth is I could not plunk down this kinda of money for another Fly! II add-on given the uncertainty of the Fly! franchise. The sim engine needs a significant update at this point not only fix bugs, but to enhance features not fully developed due to Fly! II premature release and take full advantage of hardware advances. Hence my offer...What do yall think? :-ukliamBrgrds,R. Maasha

Lefteris;I have been a flight sim fan since MS first producted their sim. I left their sim when Fly came out and have been a fan ever since and will continue to be till the end. I have purchased most of your wonderful aircraft and scenery for the Fly series. I think they are exceptionally well done and realistic in what you portray of the aircraft. I spent 20yr in the USAF as an aircraft mechanic working on Bombers and Cargo aircraft. My main issue with simulators is reality, both the aircraft and scenery. Fly has done a very good job with what it had to work with and since the upgrades has of course gotten better. As someone else has said you need a good base program to present the aircraft and scenery. I for one would love to see a Fly III or a greatly upgraded Fly II.How much would I pay for your future aircraft? I believe I would go $40.00 or 50.00 as fly II is today. Probably more if fly II is enhanced to handle the more advanced aircraft and systems. One item I thought your company handled much to my liking was not having 5 or 6 liveries of the 757 when it is downloaded. You gave us the choice which liveries we wanted. How many liveries of the same aircraft can or would one person want? You can only fly one at a time. I can fully understand the want of an aircraft livery representing your country. Please keep up the excellent work your company is doing for our fly community. I fully understand the need for the financial profit of your products. Keep flying high. Long live FlyII.

Lefteris -The 757 is (IMHO) easily worth 50% over the current price. With radar and a few other fixes, I'd go for the $99 level! The projected (forever, it seems) upgrade to the 777 should have a price tag, too. Of course, once PMDG's product line for "the other sim" gets launched, you'll have a potentially much greater customer base, and perhaps this entire discussion would then be rendered moot.- Dave Reed

Lefteris,A $100 is a little steep. I was edgy paying the $50 to get both the 757 and 777 because my mind kept saying, "You could by another sim for this." The quality is exelent, but well... one aircraft for the price of 2 computer games is a little off the wall. It's be nice to do something to give Fly a face lift. I think part of the loss of users is they see the daily uploads for MSFS and then the rare upload for Fly!II and think MSFS would be better, I never was too fond of all the freeware uploads for MSFS though, they were almost always cartoony representations in my opinion. So come on guys, let's get some innovative add-ons going and see if we can make our sim look "better" then the "other" sim and bring them back here. ;)John S. Its not 'off the wall' really, you can't compare the price of an add-on to the price of the entire Sim.The add-on will only sell very few copies compared to the sim. Its a niche market, you have to charge a price high enough to make a decent profit. Or you don't produce the add-on at all. This appears to be the dilemma that PMDG was faced with, we'll find out soon enough I guess.Regards.Ernie.

I think the main problem is some of the stuff that they make for fly2. Greek scenery! I have never been to greece nor ever want to be there. Why would I want to fly there? Why not like new york state? I never really cared about the 757 until they put out the 757! I think more people would have baught it if they made a 737!

I think your products are the best! However I think Fly2 was a severe step back from Fly2k, therefore there Is no way I would ever buy any addon for that sim. But I look towards the future with much hope and am waiting for your upcoming releases for MS2002! Best Regard's, Jim Driscoll
