I came across this fix for windows 7 microstutters because of parking of cores. prepar 3d 1.4 is now running so smooth that 30 fps looks as good as 60. It's amazing. I''ve lived with microstutters for years and now they're gone. This is a quick and easy fix. I'm running p3d in windowed mode because I hate atc in fullscreen, opusfsx cameras, nvidia inspector- triple buffering, vsync tear control-adaptive, vsync-3d app control. Also using the ForceWindowedVSync=1. This regedit seems to solve microstutters and increase stability and fps in general. definitely worth a try! http://ultimatecomputers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3644 eric

I thought I would start a thread where everyone posts their observations and tips on configuration/graphics settings. There is a lot scattered in the main thread. I'll get it started. I haven't tested all of these, but have garnered them from this and the FTX and LM forums. 1. Running in full screen and without the menu bar improves FPS. 2. If the scenery seems too blurry, disable FXAA. 3. Shadows are the main FPS killer. Experiment with those settings after configuring everything else. The options that cast/receive the most shadows (such as vegetation) have the most effect. 4. AI plane and autos have less an effect on FPS, so those sliders can be moved up c…

I posted about this in another topic already but I think it's quite an important piece of information so I decided to post this in a seperate topic too. Adam Breed from LM posted the following on the P3D forum: "You now have the ability to deactivate and reactivate your Prepar3D v2 installation without contacting the licensing support team. If you activated your license following the “Activate Online (Recommended)” method, you are able to deactivate and reactivate your license on another computer. To deactivate, simply uninstall Prepar3D using the standard Windows Programs and Features manager found under the Control Panel, or by executing the installer Setup.exe or …

Decided to test a few inspector settings out tonight and found that if I use AA_MODE_METHOD settings in the NI AA setting drop down menu the jagged lines around the runways and other shimmering objects are reduced considerably. FPS will vary if using addon airports/planes and heavy weather, no issues otherwise using FTXG and stock P3D airports/planes. Example, with Flightbeam KPHX and IRIS F-22, frames ran between 25-30 fps, Carenado A36 28-30 fps. Locked at 30 fps using start-up scenario (F-22/Virginia/light wx). Here's a screenshot of my NI settings.

To make Megascenery work at its best, add the following to your Prepar3d.cfg file: Under [DISPLAY] TextureMaxLoad=6 As always, only do this if you are comfortable playing around with the .cfg file, and always make a copy of the original first!

A trick that can help Nvidia users with tweaking settings a bit is to use EVGA precision or MSI afterburner (really the same program). I have my framerate, GPU usage%, GPU temp, video memory usage and BUS usage all displayed on my logitech G510 keyboard. If you don't own one of these keyboards you can have it display on screen. In their newest versions there is also now a BUS usage category in the monitoring section. In FSX I typically see 6% - 9% regardless of settings so it doesn't have much bearing there. On the other hand In P3DV2 I've seen it go as high as 38% - This can help you do some fine tuning to really see how much data you are pushing to your GP…

This is for those that have EZCA+TIR already in their FSX install. It also requires the Estonia Migration Tool. Is there other ways of doing this? Sure. Fill your boots. This is how I did it. OK so what I did was this... 1. Copied the BETA EZCA P3Dv2 executable (EZCA.EXE) from here (link below) into "C:\Program Files (x86)\EZCA" folder after backing up the original of course. http://www.simforums.com/forums/ezdok-and-prepar3d_topic40274_post236510.html#236510 2. The I opened the "EXE.XML" file in my "C:\Users\Charles\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX" (Right Click and Edit) and copied these lines from it... <Name>EZdok camera addon</Name> <Disabled>…

I was looking to see if anyone had the issue of no working Taxi Lights or the Mouse Look feature not working. As I was looking I ran into a post over the issue of Click Spots. The recommended solution was to re-activate Window Aero. Now normally I would have blown that off since FSX is loaded on the same computer ao if one is effected so should the other right? Well no! I applied the below steps, reloaded P3Dv2 and: 1. Go to Control Panel 2. Click on System and Security 3. Click on System 4. On the side panel: Click on Advanced System Settings This will open a settings window. The first option is Performance. Click on Settings. This will open another settings win…

I know for whatever reason some here never read the actual Prepar3D support forum so posting this here. If you don't read there on a regular basis, you should make a habit of it. These guys are pros.. This is from Beau. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=3920

Shaders are compiled for a specific video card. Whenever you change video cards, the shaders must be compiled for the new card. You need to delete the files in this folder and allow P3Dv2 to compile new shader files the next time it is run: x:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\Shaders

Hey Everybody. Here you are a minimal P3D2 launcher. http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=181367 It is extremely simple, only "select and go". It is not comprehensive as Maarten Boelens' SimLauncher but for those who is looking for simplicity will do the trick for launching your flight files directly. Supports both .flt and fxml files. It is build only for Prepar3D version 2. Other sims/versions are not compatible. The GUI is WPF and requires .net 4.0 Prepar3D v2 Windows 7 or higher Cheers, Ahmet Mehmetbeyoglu for questions, support and comments mail me : [email protected]

Original Posting by: styckx and copy/pasted from the main Prepar3D forum for posterity. You can follow and comment on this in the thread found here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/428473-resize-those-hd-textures-warning-pictures-in-post/ Full disclosure - These screenshots are in FSX but I prepared this with using it as a suggestion for you v2 users who are seeming to suffer from OOM's more often than FSX due to the added overhead that comes w/ P3Dv2 features. A common topic lately is the obsession with HD textures. Lots of times 4096 textures are completely unnecessary for a lot of people. So I want to show you.. With some work what losing your "HD" actually results…

Thought of sharing here as well, the bellow is from the LM P3D official forum (they are aware and looking for a solution as well): [WORKED] Back home and more testing and found out that as some had mentioned if the monitor 1 is not selected as main in the screen resolution menu but is used as the main monitor the FPS when undocking does not drop more then normal and the GPU keeps being used to its full potential! so here is how to make it work: 1. On the Screen Resolution selector in Windows click on monitor 2 and select Make this my min display check box 2. Here is the important part you NEED to start the P3D v2 from that now new main monitor, if you start frst and t…

This has been mentioned in the general forum, but it should be noted here. P3D v2 put some information in the programs section of Windows. Go to the Start menu, and click on All Programs and then find and click on Lockheed Martin. Then click Prepar3D/Learning Center/Prepar3D Product/Tuning Guide. There is a list of changes you can make to the file Prepar3d.cfg that really can make a significant difference in performance, at least it did for me. As always, only make the changes if you are comfortable playing around with .cfg files, and make a copy of the original file before you change anything!

Just as I needed to do with FSX DX10 (with the Fixer) I found out that the same trick does wonders in P3D 2.0 too. With TrackIR at the normal priority there is some sort of sluggish, stuttering behaviour when I look around, even when fps itself is good. But with TrackIR at High priority looking around is as smooth as can be! So if you use TrackIR and experience slight stutters when looking around, this might be due to TrackIR needing more priority and not to P3D performing bad! If you, like me, want to make this a permanent option, then go to the shortcut of TrackIR, rightcklik on it, choose Properties and change the target to this: C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe…

It's clear now that there are several bugs with the full screen mode, which hopefully LM will fix soon. In the meantime, I suggest running in windowed mode and just using the Pseudo Full Screen autohotkey utility from the AVSIM FSX library. It does the exact same thing but without the glitches, as P3D uses it's own windowed mode. Once installed, you can toggle between windowed and full screen simply by pressing .

For anyone upgrading their card from Nvidia to whatever I found out the hard way what not to do. Make sure you remove any remnants of Nvidia drivers and or tools prior to installing your new card, Nvidia stores all kinds of various little tid bits all over the place, files, registry ETC. So I installed my new Radeon card and continued to get that annoying "This video card does not meet requirements, blah blah blah." Typically you remove the cached shader folder in App Data, however for some reason I was not able to rid myself of that error until I completely removed all Nvidia softwares and some are hidden. Also remove those files before physically taking out the Nvidia c…

SimLauncher by Maarten Boelens - popular freeware FSX/P3D launcher. I'm sure Maarten will update his package to support P3Dv2, but for now here's a workaround: 1. Run Pete Dowson's MakeRwys in your P3Dv2 root folder. 2. Copy SimLauncher.flt from FSX saved flights folder to P3Dv2 saved flights folder. DO NOT SAVE THIS FLIGHT IN P3Dv2, IT MUST REMAIN AS AN .FLT FILE. 3. Select SimLauncher.flt as the default flight in P3D. 4. Set up P3Dv2 paths in SimLauncher. You'll need to manually set the configuration folder, scenery.cfg folder and saved flights folder. 5. Use SimLauncher as normal.
