X-Plane Tips and Tricks

So, the ingame FXAA looks awful due to the way the game relies on many small objects at ground level. But the 4x SSAA Quad Render is way too taxing on the framerate.. I'd love some sort of middle-ground, even if it was low quality 2x nonsense. So, is there anyway to force specific AA settings via nvidia inspector for example, without needing to resort to the full 4x SSAA Quad? Which compatability bits should we use? Thanks.

I think this has been out for a while, and most experienced with X-plane either know about it or already use it, but I just recently discoverd it myself and thought Id pass it along. Its a nifty plugin that puts a second monitor to use displaying navigation and engine information etc. Its very customizable and easy to set up. Its also free. Evening, Having been out of simulators/games for sometime I decided to get back in. Running OS X limits the choices so last week I ordered X-Plane 10 Global (I hope I ordered, the online system failed twice and called the number on the X-Plane page). I also ordered Saitek Cessna Yoke with throttle quad and the Cessna trim wheel and the yoke power adapter for the USB hub. Still need to order rudder pedals and having some issues on which to get. I do not have a PPL though that may change soon. I've flown several different aviation games, CFS, CFS3, Red Baron, Red Baron 3D, IL2 and several others through the years, all on PC based systems. I have a problem installing x-plane 9, the file of the installers are all zip that why i need to extract it. after extracting i click the x-plane to install but it says there: (i am looking x-plane DVD now) what should i do? pls help me.

Hi: I have been unable to locate a unistaller for the X plane 10 demo , unable to locate in program folder or it is not on my Add and Remove Programs list in Control Panel. How can I uninstall X-Plane 10, I need the disc space? Thanks for your help

anyone here use the pilotview plugin? I do, and love it, only thing close to ezdok that we use for FSX. I can program the views etc... to use in the 3d cockpits but do not know what the vibrational effects panel does or not do.... no matter what values I put in, I really don't see any differences.. .I know the vibrations come out for engine power and you can toggle to deactivate the effect in the air which mimicks a type of ground vibration... but is there any real ground vibration effects that I am missing? Is that what the effects panel is for that I really am not sure how to work?

So, I have X-Plane 10 installed (trying to move to it instead of using FSX, which is no longer supported)... I configured my CH Products Yoke and Pedals just fine, but when I go back into XP10 later, the settings are gone. I leave my controls plugged in, so it's not due to them being removed and added to different ports. Any suggestions? Thanks! P.S.--New here on the forums. Skip to the last paragraph for the actual solution if you don't care about the commentary.)I've been struggling for about a week to set-up my joystick in X-Plane 10 so I could look around the virtual cockpit with the hatswitch. The problem is that hatswitches are actually axes on joystick hardware, but Windows has been fudging this for years, and the drivers report it as button presses. Linux, on the other hand, reports what it actually is, which is axes, and as far as X-Plane is concerned, there's no way to assign look commands to a hatswitch that reports as an axis. Au…

With all these betas going on, I miss the ability to change liveries without reloading the whole plane, perhaps I'm doing something wrong or I'm lost, but prior to v10.10 we were able to change the arcraft's liveries from the menu ala v9. This is getting really annoying (in my case) when I start a flight from the new startup menu and I select the J Rollon's CRJ-200 (I don't see there a livery selector) and once the flight is loaded (until there all ok) I try to change the livery via the new aircraft menu and when the livery changes (with the whole plane reloaded) my PFD and EICAS just won't display, grrr! I don't know if its me but, I tried using inspector setting instead of the XP10 own setting and boy did I see a difference in terms of image quality and no shimmering, I use to see quite a bit of it, not anymore. Everything looks sharper, performance wise I didn't see any gain but I do like what I see now. Just sharing

did my ini or cfg file get messed up? how do i solve this weird issue, lol. I'm trying to enjoy XP10 but i always keep going back to FSX OR P3D. I had some good times in XP10 but i remember the install taking hours and i kept getting errors during the install, even with the installer from their site. WOW! as i'm typing this post, 3 Canadian F18 in formation just flew over my home, god those planes are cute and small.

Most important for now: How to limit visibility in XPL10?I know how to do this inside the simulator, in weather settings, but can i do this in some CFG file like in FSX? I'd like to use it with real weather if that is posible in XPL.And if response is positive, where is CFG file located?I'm relative new to X-Plane, and i don't know to much about performance tuning, so if there are some experienced XPL users - could someone post the most important tips for us, beginners?ThanksZeljko

As a point of interest, it was taking X-Plane 10, about four minutes and 40 some seconds to load from when the splash screen first came on until the program was loaded and running. After defragging with Ultimate Defrag3, It now takes from two minutest and 6 to 15 seconds to load. And all of the files are on the outer tracks starting at cluster 0, and all of the files and folders right in line. well worth the effort.edit: Thanks Tom for the extra forums!!

Did someone know if it’s possible to assign a “mute command” to a joystick button in XP10?I would like to mute the active frequency radio (com1 only) while pressing my yoke red button (like in real transmission).Thanks
