I don´t know if you know that, but we can bring the cloud shadows back (not permanently, the dataref will be active until you restart xplane, but it´s also probably possible to set your own data refs preset for art control). Download and install datarefeditor plugin from http://www.xsquawkbox.net/xpsdk/mediawiki/datarefeditor (into plugins Folder)! Start XPlane go to plugins/datarefeditor -> click "show art controls" (console will pop up) and scroll down (or search while you click into box frame on lower left corner, tutorials how to juse datarefedit are also on YouTube) ..and scroll down to "clouds/cloud_shadow_lighten_ratio=0.500000" and try out f.e. 0…

I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, If you use CH Throttles and FF B-757 and want to better control reverse thrust you can do as I did: Uncheck CH box under Joystick/Equipment Assign reverse to two (2) of the Axis levers I recall someone asking how to fix this, hope this helps and excuse if someone else has already given this tip.

Hello guys! I have this problem with x-plane, when I fly an airliner at 35000FT the ground looks very blurry, I know this is x-plane limitation, I've just read about it, what i want to know is, if we can limit the visibility to 25 nm so the blurry texture doesn't show anymore? I've just started to invest in X-plane and this limitation is killing me, as I only fly airliners!!!!

I have recently installed XP9 as a replacement for FS9. My PC could not run the XP10 demo but XP9 works a treat,I am really impressed with the performance. Its definitely more "hands on" with little to assist and its interesting having to develope flight plans without assistance. The ATC is OK too, in terms of vectors to finals, certainly no worse than the FS9 default. However what I can't work out is how to submit a flight plan with waypoints to the ATC. I can see how to submit direct routes, but if I try and fly via navaids etc (which you have to on longer flights) it will tell me that i Am off course. Hi,I have taken the time to run a quick comparison of performance. As I have noticed before that X-Plane 9 runs much better under Linux than Windows, I decided to put X-Plane 10 to the test. I finally found my old back-up CD's which had scenery for FS2004 and FSX on it I bought years ago. One of them was Portland Intl from FlightZone which was fabulous scenery, but I never could get it to work with FSX. However, with FS2XP it converts beautifully to XP10. All I did was add some static planes with WED. (I may have over done it a little) This scenery is still sold by Flight1 but is no longer supported since the developer is sadly no more. Anyhow, here is what it looks like in XP-10. Im going to add some Spill lighting at some point, if I can figure out how to do it. Rob

Quick question before I head to bed. One thing I dislike about xplane is the lack of v-sync when I'm flying. Has anyone tried using NI to force v-sync on and what's the effect on x plane in general. Thanks guys, Jess B

Hi community. Have for many years flown around in fs9, and the 2d cockpit, but have now stepped over in the x-plane 3d world. and I have a cuple of questions in that regard. First: Can anyone tell me the best way to navigate around in the cockpit, I use the saitek x25 system, and have toyed round with the hat switches, but Im not totally satisfyed with the motion, so i could use some help. secondly Have also treated me with the Carenado C90B King Air as a bonus this year, a grate plane, but have you figured out if I there are any shortcuts to select the different areas of the cockpit, , or do i have to open the control and select the area from the panel …

Just had to reinstall win7. I use to have x plane 10 on the "c" drive but a just bought a new 500ssd drive which is now the "e" drive. Is there anyway to load xp10 on that drive instead of the desktop? Thanks for any help.

Yes , I managed to learn something last years I am painting aircraft-models for flightsim for many years now. To be frank ,I did not expect to find much I did not already know. Until some wheeks ago , when I started to make a repaint (Thai Royal Air Force) for the ATR 72-500 ( Aerosoft/McPhatstudios ) Not really a big deal , a white airplane with an emblem and a blue and gold cheatline. The "white" happened to be the problem. I tried,tried once again I really was going mad. Even a complete pure white texture turned out to produce a greyish kinda thing. I realised that had to come from the OBJ files. An OBJ file can be opened with a text-editor so I did. Ok …

Just a "heads up" for those who use Saitek Multi-Panels and Fips. I recently did a major up grade to my system and all was working great. Yesterday I did the recommended Windows 8.1 Upgrade. Since then the panels no longer function properly. A quick check with the org revealed several people who made the same mistake as me are having the same issue's. They work fine under Windows 8 but when the upgrade is installed they don't. I have contacted Saitek and am awaiting a reply. In the meantime if like me all you use your system for is flying, hold off with the update till the issue is resolved. Best Regards, Scot

Hi, I decided to give X-plane 10 another shot. This is a fresh install, I've been able to calibrate and use my yoke (PFC - Column Yoke). But it does not recognize my throttle quad (VRAC) axes (Pitch Trim, Speed Brake, Throttle 1 & 2, Flaps), but it sees and I can use the buttons on the throttle quad (A/T Disengage, TO/GA, Parking Brake, Stab Trim L&R and Fuel Cutoff L&R). Any ideas on how to get the axes working?, does it have to be controlled by thid party software?. Thanks

I guess I'm like many newbies on this forum - Having used Microsoft's flight simulator up to FSX for more years than we can count, we are now dipping a toe into X-Plane 10. The first "instinctive" thing that I'm sure most newbies try to do is to make XPX work similarly to FSX so as to just get a start on the learning curve. To this end it took me a while and many searches on this and other forums (and RTFM as well) to figure out that in order to look around via the joystick HAT switch one has to program the four 90 degree positions with Q, E, R, and F. Purchased x plane 10 . Loaded all discs . Downloaded new installer as instructed. Trying to run, get the following error message. upd socket read udp init failed. Message states the reason for error is because another copy of x plane is running. Have only one copy that has been loaded and will not let me in to do any new updates or anything other than the new installer. Any help, please. Have sent email to x plane support requesting help but no reply yet. MY pc intel I7 running at 4.5 With fsx runs like butter . Never had any software loading errors in past. I registered to X-plane .Org Forum. They suppose to send me Validation to enter their from. I keep sending validation notification, still no response. I purchased theire DC-3 HeinzD-DC3-v10 (Download, Douglas DC3 Pack), No way I can install it. Need help. Thanks

1) Is there a setting in a config file that you can permanently set so the aircraft comes up with the 3d scrolling view automatically (instead of shift 9 every time you start the sim). 2) I read something way, way back that there might be a way to put the Reality Xp gns into an aircraft panel instead of having the "floating" view. Howdy Folks! Those of you that have an iPad and can afford to get Foreflight Mobile, don't wait; run and get it. It is simply awesome. As you fly in XPX you can actually see your aircraft fly over high/low IFR charts or over the sectional chart or simply GPS map. It is very good to train on how to stay in and out of control areas and fly safely around those. It is also handy to see charts and get airport data as you fly. Pretty darn cool and the integration came as a new addon on version B9. Hope this helps. Dennis

Hey all, Xplane is so far so good with the demo, but I have a few questions off the bat. Do I set AA and all the other stuff in the sim, or should I set it in Inspector just like FSX? One more question, how to pan around the 3D cockpit? I set the "general look" in 'buttons basic' left, right, up, and, down to my hat switch on my yoke as I would with any sim type game, but there is no option to set the up left, up right, down left, and down right, or is there? Is there maybe some option to set the hat to view or is the UI a little "clunky" like that? Thanks for the help in advance, Jeff

I am running Ubuntu 12.10 64bit, with 4 MB of ram. I upgraded my vid card from a Geforce 8800GTS 640MB to Geforce 650GTX 2GB. The speed increase in X-plane 10 was incredible (I doubled my framerate overall while putting higher settings everywhere). But I found that with these settings there was huge swapping happening all the time, and the sim would stall completely for several long seconds/minutes. I was getting frustrated trying to install X Plane 10 - North America onto my new computer system. I did google X Plane Installation and found out about the install file that needs to be downloaded and used instead of the one on the DVD. So I downloaded it. But I still had this problem with the install: I don't know if you can see it very well but I could not read the words on the install menus. I tried changing resolutions. I disabled my second screen.
