I have been enjoying this holiday weekend flying in the FSX beta. So far its pretty stable on my system and for my garbage system thats amazing. I did SEA-EGL yesterday and today I am doing SFO-SYD. Also seems to do a good job of holding time while I am multi-tasking. Something FS9 Always struggled with. One interesting thing I have noticed is the performance. It seems to be getting just a little bit better each time I play it. I have slowly increased some of the sliders as well. This is of coarse unscientific observation but might be reality. Could it be that it has to load and build objects the first time you fly in an area or they are used but after they are bui…

Anybody else play around in "outer space" yet? I slewed my beaver to about 1.5 million feet and the whole experience was pretty interesting.Obviously I had no control and the engine stopped and I began plummetting back toward earth. Interestingly though I reached crazy high speeds (not sure just how fast) and then "hit" the atmosphere. My plane kept bouncing off the earth around 400,000 feet. (although I never officially crashed or overstressed the aircraft...)Even if I slewed it into a perfect dive, the atmosphere would begin ragdolling my aircraft all over the place. I never could get it back to earth without slewing it back down. So, it seems perhaps the physics or flig…

Hey,I've got both installed here and I see massive differences between them. BETA doesn't seem polished at all, very buggy. Demo runs great. After waiting 10 hours to download all 8GB it was off my system in less than 60mins - very disappointing :(If theres meant to only be a weeks worth of difference here then I'd say we're in for a treat come the final build :)Hope the demo build was newer as performance is superb on my Core 2 Duo, BETA runs terrible.Anyone else think the same?Nels

Does FSX have an inbuilt AFCAD application, or are we reliant on Lee Swordy (or a.n. other) to develop another version?

I suppose I understand the fact that since it is a beta you would need a key, but I just think it is lame that there is no longer an NDA on any of the FSX betas and we subscribed (basically paid) for the fsx beta only to be excluded. Indeed, it is random. I am only saying however that I think all who are willing to pay should not have to deal with a time limit especially for a beta that in reality is basically just a bigger demo. At least if you don't get a key then you shouldn't have to deal with a time limit that's a double whammy being excluded from MP is bad enough, but a time limit ? I suppose it is only for a month so it might not be so bad. Perhaps next time t…

Hi all,To make it easy for Microsoft to keep track of bugs reported on this forum, it might be a good idea to have a thread dedicated to them. This is that thread.I'd suggest that bug reports be kept fairly concise (while maintaining thoroughness) and that system specs accompany each bug report.I'll get the ball rolling:1) Blue screen of death occurs whenever I try to drop a flour bomb with a joystick button. This happens with my MS Sidewinder FF2 and also my XBox 360 Controller. Keyboard-activated dropping works fine.2) Airbus autothrottle issues. The logic for activating and turning off the autothrottle in the Airbus appears to be flawed. After I turned it on, I wa…

The fileplanet site says that the Windows built in unzip utility will frequently report a good file as corrupt. It recommends using WinZip 9 or WinZip 10 to unzip the file.Be sure to try WinZip before trashing the file and starting over.

The posts I've seen over the last few days relating to the Fileplanet FSX beta indicate to me that its largely a fun fest for a select few (paying) FS fans a month out from the full release. Its value as a beta seems questionable given how unstructured user feedback to MS seems to be (please correct me I am wrong here), and moreso because any bug found would have to major and easy to fix to meet the very short time line before FSX goes gold. The NDA side of things seems to be a non-issue, given the information being disclosed on these forums without any apparent recourse from AVSIM or MS.Before anyone points out that I could have signed up for Fileplanet and the FSX bet…

Hi folks,Has anyone found a configuration of settings that allows the computer to keep up with the airplane's progress when loading textures?Effectively I've only been able to fly the ultralight so far...everything else goes faster than the computer can keep up with. Are there any texture bandwidth tweaks in FSX.cfg that anyone's found? Or anything in the display settings that will mitigate this?Best,Matt SmithPentium D 3.2 Ghz DualGeForce 7900GT 256MB2G RAM

Given that the release of FSX is imminent, and our policy of having a single forum for MS Flight Simulator, please be advised that sometime tomorrow afternoon (Monday, September 4th) we will be merging this forum into the MS Flight Sim General Discussion forum. Things may be a bit confusing for a while, but upon release of FSX, we're sure that will smooth out. So, look for this forum to disappear sometime tomorrow afternoon and all things FSX will be found in the upper level MS General Flight Sim forum.

I have posted earlier regarding the placement of images in this forum. This is not the screen shot forum. Please do not post images here unless it is in relation to solving a problem or illustrating a problem. I am simply going to delete any thread that includes images that do not meet those strictures or our policies regarding images.

Hi all,Is it possible to make FSX start where you last left flight sim? What I mean is; if I exit flight sim at a particular airport and parking spot; when I re start FSX, if I did not save that flight it goes to the default start up situation. In FS9, there was a setting to make where you left FS the start up situation. I cant find this setting in FSX.Am I missing something? Thanks.
