  1. honestly, i would rather have no buildings than those ugly default buildings in FSX. I hear when the WED comes out people will create the airport sceneries and then they will be distributed.
  2. Can't beat the mountain flying in XPX!
  3. The new 10.04 b2 soon to be released will improve and tone down the effects of turbulence etc especially with real world weather turned on. http://wiki.x-plane.com/beta#X-Plane_10.04_Beta_2.2C_COMING_SOON
  4. How is that awkward? I find it easy to change the time, just slide the slider, don't get how thats awkward. Also you can adjust time of day in-sim using the K & L keys. Really nice feature.
  5. I love the X-plane UI. I don't get how people can hate it so much. Once you learn your way around the menus, its extremely efficient and fast to use. Sure it doesn't have pictures to guide you or anything of the like but that was not its intended purpose.
  6. I really want to be a commercial pilot, but as already stated, it is not what it used to be. Here is my plan....i am currently 16 working on my PPL, once i graduate high school i plan on going to the ohio state university to major in aerospace engineering and minor in aviation. Hopefully i can land an internship/job with netjets and work my way up and "get to know people." Once i get my degrees and necessary ratings i can flight instruct for a while then join a regional for a little bit until i have enough hours to fly for netjets. OR i can use my degree in engineering to possibly get a more stable, better paying job with an aircraft manufacturing company etc. what do you guys think?
  7. x-planes default camera system is a lot like EZDOK.
  8. The T-34 is beautiful, but i find that it is a little too overpowered and a little too unstable. I dont have the F33A but i mainly fly the crj or carenados 152.
  9. Some of the airport scenery by butnaru has some moving stuff i think, his sceneries can be found at the x-plane.org store.
  10. I tested the crj at 60 knots direct crosswind with the parking brake and engines off. The plane was moving on the ground. I toned it back to 50 kts and it didnt move. I also did some flying in these winds and it was pretty stable. I did even manage a 50 kt crosswind landing although it was really difficult, but stable non the less.
  11. It depends on the aircraft, a payware aircraft with a good flight model will probably fly and feel smoother then your default aircraft. Xplanes wind and turb are a little overpowered but alot of the instability people are having might just be because of the flight model, not the wind. It all depends on how much time the developer puts into the flightmodel.
  12. Download the Demo, try it out, if you don't like it, don't buy it and wait till it gets better. At least laminar is generous enough to offer a demo for potential customers to try before they buy. And remember it is still in a BETA phase. why should you go to the X-plane developer blog? because that is where you will find what is happening and what they are fixing. If you were concerned with the state of X-plane, why wouldn't you go there first for information before ranting on a public forum? I'm sure laminar knows peoples gripes and are working on them, and just because they don't publicly hold your hand at the avsim forums and tell you it's going to be alright, that doesn't mean it will not get done. The customers paid the full price, sure, but guess what? it includes frequent, FREE updates all throughout the version 10 cycle, so you ARE getting a FULL simulator for your money. expecting a bug free product at initial release is just absolutely absurd and just stupid, especially in the simulator market. may I recall that MS didn't release a bug free product when they released FSX? and look, it is still a buggy product today! although laminar has not gone to great lengths to personally notify their customers, you can find a lot of information on their website, which would be the first place i would go if i was looking for an answer.. along with the X-plane developer blog. obviously you have a grudge against X-plane and Laminar, but it is not solely their fault that people are uninformed about what they are getting. Some people are just too lazy not to do research before they know what they are getting into. others are impatient and think that everything can be fixed over night. Sure i understand that people are upset, but this is how every X-plane release has gone down (as far as i'm aware of), and while frustrating at times, it is a good way to make X-plane the best flight simulator it can be, by exposing it to people so they can find the bugs and address peoples wants and needs. Nothing is set in stone in X-plane, things are constantly evolving and changing and becoming better.
  13. Oh yes, check out the ixeg 737, the xp jets 777 , and others. You will be presently surprised. Also there is an amazing Beaver coming out and i cant wait for gorans dc-3 and saab 340.
  14. Yes it works but there are a few bugs such as the co pilot appearing outside of the plane and some other minor problems.
  15. No, at least not out of the box... You will have to get the autogate plugin, and then edit your scenery to accommodate the autogate jetways. You will probably have to do some studying on how to do it though. I find its too complicated so i gave up on it lol. Some addo. Sceneries already accommodate autogate too. Who knows, maybe someday we will have a better way of doing it and maybe all airport sceneries can have moving jetways. Id like that.
  16. Glad i still have beta 7 lol.
  17. I have cloud9 klax, imagine sim katl converted along with some other fs sceneries like fly tampa kbos, and a really nice conversion of kdca and kphl, all 3 of which you can find at x-plane.org.
  18. X planes wind and turbulence have always been extremely overpowering and too strong compared to real life. I dont know if they will ever tone it down but it has been one of my major gripes with xplane.
  19. Honestly, there is no harm in buying it. The night lighting, water, and weather cannot be beat. And although it is lacking in some places such as urban environments , these WILL be addressed and keep in mind that the updates come regularly and are free. And there will be add- ons that come out that will make it way better, just like fsx. You can buy it now and experiment with it, and if you don't like some aspects of it, such as the scenery or aircraft, just go back to fsx for a bit and wait for it to become better. Or if your a sim nut like me, you can use both at the same time. Since i just got the ngx, i use fsx alot more for longer routes where i like to simulate procedural realism, however, if i want to do a vfr flight through the mountains in a cessna 152, i use xplane. Maybe this will change around 10.2 when xpx is stable and/ or when the 737 classic & xp jets 777 come out. Also cant wait for Goran's dc-3 and the beaver to come out aswell. And on a side note, im sure austin and laminar know what peoples concerns are and are doing everything they can. On a another side note, this flame war between fsx and xp is just ridiculous. Technically they are just pieces of simulation software, why does it matter which sim people chose to use?
  20. Default airport scenery except for ksea is non existent at the moment, however aerosoft will be releasing some of their x-plane 10 sceneries for free to all XP 10 users. once the new world editor is released, you will see many airports become populated with terminals and buildings and you should also see more in the later versions of xplane 10 (i believe). Until then, you can find decent scenery for many airports by googling teds xplane scenery. As far as airport vehicles etc, you will most likely find them in scenery packages that utilize openscenery x. You can also place your own using a tool called overlay editor. Hope this helps
  21. Yes when they are released you should get them free via an update i believe.
  22. Jrollon's CRJ is imo, the best aircraft for xplane atm. It is an absolute necessity if you like airliners or you are a regional guy.
  23. Check out x-plane.org and x-aviation.com. Also eadt.eu for a good 737 freeware.
