What kind of copy protection does RC3 use, if any?

Greetings Everyone,I really like RC3 and I can tolerate the h/w lock issue with one exception. It is ridiculous that you can't use the program as received! Who wants to wait 24 hours before you can use a program you've already paid for?! This is the first (and last) program I have purchased (or will purchase) with this limitation. Are you listening jd and the rest? Why not provide a 2 or 3 day grace period to allow plenty of time to get the infamous key? The same should apply for hardware changes, etc. which require a new key.And while I'm bantering, I have another major gripe. This program is not cheap at $45. I've never paid more for any of my flight sim titles from Microsoft or others. For this price RC3 should include at least a printed manual. I guarantee you that the RC3 boys could have manuals printed much, much cheaper in volume than I can printing the 188 page manual on an ink jet printer with the high cost of print cartridges. With that said, I do like the program. I feel that RC3 will make it easier to finally get my instrument rating. And it's just plain fun to use even with some quirks. I'm hoping that jd and the gang will continually improve it starting with losing that crappy AdvDisp nightmare.Obmij

After orderering the CD, and waiting for the snail mail to bring it, then the long install, and all the talk about the 24 hour turn around for the key, I was feeling like the poor kid on Christmas day who didn't have batteies for his new cool toys. However I sent in the key request and after 10 minutes decided on a whim to check my inbox.....Low and Behold! here's my new key!!Thanks Guys for a great productUS Navy SeabeeConstruimus-Batuimus

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Given the limited number of copies that I think can be sold of RC3, a 200 page manual would cost serious money per copy, maybe more than the current price of RC3.Anyway. I agree that RC3 is not an inexpensive add-on, but it's the prerogative of the seller to decide the price and leave it to the consumer to decide if he wants to buy. Both you and bought it, so the price cannot be totally crazy :-)Oh, and before the usual suspects step in and explain how much work went into RC3: I believe you, but that's beside the point. As a consumer my sole consideration has to be this: do I get enough for my money? If I spent 3000 hours folding a paper plane, would you buy it?For the record, I do think I got my money's worth when buying RC3. Eventually, my credit card will recover from the shock, too :-)
