How so? It's enough to rename the community folder, and that's a matter of 10 seconds, no risk involved.

Your statement is very different from this one "Please try removing all content from your Community folder and relaunching the sim. If that works, then re-add your mods until you find the one that is causing the issue".

He took it for granted that the problem was on the user's end, while the most obvious thing to do was to wait a while to verify that the issue wasn't on the Microsoft server side.

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

Pedantic know-it-all attitudes don't get humanity anywhere.

Not a big effort either if you cut/paste instead of copy/paste. Ok, copying them back in batches is a bit more work, but this is only necessary if it really was the fault of an add-on, and then it's well worth it. Using binary search, i.e. copying half of the add-ons to see whether or not the issue returns, then half of the remaining add-ons and so on.

I didn't read it like that. Standard practice in troubleshooting to rule out a few common issues.

More likely a temporary problem with the italian net infrastructure, since the only 2 users reporting in this thread are located in Italy ...

Yours isn't a standard practice, it's a potential harmful guide for the addons and MSFS 24 install. And the problem was from the server side.

The point is that a MS Community Manager gave us the wrong advice. Is he a paid Microsoft employee in his role as Community Manager?

Missing the PMDG DC6 in MSFS 2024 (she's here, but...).

Yesterday, I had a different error, msfs 2024 would not start. I got this strange popup error:

spacer.png

in other words flightsimulator2024.exe was corrupted. But no need to reinstall msfs, that would be a long process and trips to the library to redo the content, a hassle.

Instead, because I was already in the beta, I just went to Xbox Insider and exited the beta. And  next I started msfs to do the 10GB download. This of course installed a new flightsimulator2024.exe file that was not corrupted.

Next I went back to insider and rejoined the beta. restarted msfs which downloaded the beta version of that .exe file along with 10GB new files. And was well and nothing had changed with my sim, of course.

This took 30 minutes instead of hours and hours.

It is. Your statement doesn't become any more true just by repeating it.

"wrong"... when locating a problem you just try to eliminate possible sources of error one by one. And trying without any add-ons first *is* a sound advice.

Yes, with hundred Gigs of addons eliminating possible sources of error one by one, is a real game changing 🤣. Are you coming from the same school of the Community Manager?

If you rename or move the files to a different folder on the same disk, it doesn't matter how many GB you move. The data itself doesn't need to move, only the directory entry.

If by "the same school" you mean that we actually know something about hunting down bugs, instead of just ridiculing those trying to help, then yes.
