December 5, 20241 yr It's time for another proper 2024 flight. We're preflighting just before sunrise at the lovely Palm Springs, CA KPSP. A thick marine layer is forecast so we're unsure if that layer restrict our approach (a visual since there is no IAPs at L70). Our alternate is KWJF Fox field just west of Palmdale if the weather doesn't cooperate. Hope you enjoy this flight - using the Black Square TBM 850 with a few minor mods, the iniBuilds "enhanced PSP," and vbazillio's recent L70 2024 upgrade (freeware!) Oh, the routing is KPSP CATH1 PSP PDZ L70 Cool and Dark haha (PSP is semi warm even now) Blasting off RWY 31R The CATH1 departure is just a giant teardrop/hold to get less powerful aircraft out of the valley and on course, typically socal approach controllers will give shortcuts once aircraft reach their MVA, or if the pilot is able to maintain their own clearance from terrain and obstructions they can turn on course much earlier. I elect to fly most of the procedure in hopes that the marine layer is out of our way reaching L70... The sky coloring is ultra realistic - just beautiful! Seeing hints of light as we level off at 12,000 ft... Looking North at the San Gorgino mountain and towards Big Bear L35 airport Just overhead March ARB - and what a thick layer this morning ooof! Cirrus clouds! Appears to be some altocumulus even! We'll start a slow descent and cross the higher minimum IFR altitude areas Looking almost due South towards Los Angeles Downtown, Santa Monica (SMO), and LAX. It's hardball IMC at those airports as I glance at my EFB! But over here it seems to be a beautiful morning, we'll get the visual soon and cancel IFR I lost the field for a minute with shadows surrounding the hills but I picked it up again - ooops! Chop and drop but it's a stable approach and no issues with the amazing TBM 850 Look at this amazing sunlight above the hills! A couple walking their dog snapped a pic of us Vincent has done a superb job keeping this airport up to date - incredible freeware thank you sir! They told me "just park here!" oooook haha! Yes I enjoy the TBM 930 almost as much but I really do love the GTN 750Xi. I only wish someday we could have 2 in the panel. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
December 8, 20241 yr Besides looking good, what are the frame rates for your current system, Ryan? Darryl

I did notch a few setting down from ultra to high after watching that "settings" video. I typically ran TLOD 400 in 2020 (unless I was in VR or in like NYC) but I did pull that down to 200 here in 2024. With frame gen like triple digits in rural areas and probably 40-60 in big cities. Without FG anywhere from 20-50. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
