Aerobask DA42 or DA62 , which is better

Featured Replies

between the Aerobask DA42 and DA62, which one is better re. visual modelling or looks better in x-plane 12, any suggestions? simulation and flightmodelling wise I assume they are very close, they cost both the same 39.95

I think the DA42 was released after the DA62, so is the DA42 more advanced from a simulation point of view because it is only compatible with xpl-12 ?

unfortunately the G1000 looks awful and fuzzy in both 😀, just like the GNS 530/430. why can LR not come up with state of the art graphics like others do? they all look out of focus as if I needed glasses.

which one would you recommend?

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Doesn't sound like either would suit you.

Perhaps you do need glasses.  Maybe time for a check up.

I am considering this Diamond 42, but someone told me there is an ongoing project for the same being done. So not sure if I sure get the aerobask or wait for the one being developed.

Thanks Humpty. why the DA-42 and not the DA-62? I like the bigger panel of the DA62, but  the DA42 has much better unobstructed views outside. I am not sure the "other" unknown project can be visually better than the Aerobask. what I am really unhappy with is the low texture resolution of the default G1000 bezel and text quality. they should check how it's done in the other simulator. unfortunately all aircraft using the default Laminat-Research 😊 version will suffer from that fuzzy low resolution quality.

what else to expect from Goran. btw: I do have glasses, that's why I can tell fuzzy from crisp. you should try them, might help you to see things clearer. besides - who let you out of the  ignore cage?

Hi,

It's mostly due to the unobstructed view.

The other one is "Cows DA 42" if you search on google.

I have both the DA42 & DA62 - both are great.  The DA42 in development will have a custom G1000 so maybe not <cough> blurry.  However, there may be a smudge on two on the carpet under the seat so be careful before you consider it.

That's exactly what I say about you when I see one of your posts.  Freaky coincidence.

I can see clear textures.  Not really sure I understand your insult.  Are you assuming I have bad vision?

I'm scratching my head in confusion.  Since when does bad eyesight result in seeing things clearly?

Actually, no.  You obviously don't know how pixels/cm works in texturing workflow.

Considering you weren't even aware that updated drivers were the solution to your CTD problem, it's not surprising.

Anything I can do to help, just give me a shout out.

thanks Humpty, indeed these Cows looks interesting. will postpone my decision then and go with the Aerobask Phenom 300 in the meantime.

Cows must be these guys:

"Our team’s entry into the market is to address a severely poorly represented line of aircraft, namely from Diamond."

"guys, i see you have a lot of respect for other developers...Congratulations if you are the best. "

agree, competition is awful. 😀

I changed my graphics settings in x-plane to just below maximum settings after x-plane fps slowed down and complained my graphics settings were too high 😀 (24 GB Vram RTX 4090 here, go figure) and now the G1000 does indeed look better.

Don't know who they are , the link was given to me by @jcomm

That's a strong GPU.

!

Fully Custom Garmin G1000NXi

"The biggest feature of the COWS Diamonds though is the fully custom Garmin G1000NXi. This has been recreated using manuals, first hand experience and Garmin software. This means it can be as accurate to the real Garmin as possible. Everything that the real Garmin can do, our Garmin will also do.

Our team’s intention into the market is to introduce a study level Diamond Aircraft Fleet to primarily support our personal flight training, after seeing underrepresented DA40s and 42s for XP10. Our first series of products aim to deliver a feature rich replica of the DA42 in VI and TDI flavours. We are real world DA42 and 40 pilots looking to recreate the experience to help students alike train for their licenses!

Top to bottom, head to toe, everything from the flight behaviour and systems is meticulously recreated through comprehensive real aircraft testing and feedback. These are complemented with a stunning visual model that is created to the utmost accuracy. Our first public appearance happened a little under a year ago, with us showcasing a general model working and some basic working systems, but since then, we’ve developed it to be one of the most comprehensive aircraft in X-Plane.

Our team as it stands now consists of:

Mitchell (me) - who heads our 3D work (3D artist)
Jacob - our code cruncher (Programmer)
Boris - is our audio magician (Sounds: FMOD & WWise)
Peter - the team’s voice of reason (3D, branding & admin)

COWS?? t is short for Creator Of WorldS."

this sounds and looks indeed worthwhile waiting for. WorkinTitle have set the standard for G1000 recently with their Aircraft and Avionics Update for MSFS, would love to see something at least better than the default xplane G1000.

I never regretted buying the DA62 several years ago, and I fly it quite a bit.

It's a tad modern for my taste (I like steam gauges with a GNS for navigation better), but it's the light twin that gets the job done for me doing long tours (around the world, or north cape to cape town like I'm flying now).

There's no room in my hangar for both the 42 and the 62, and I'm happy enough with the 62 that I see no need to replace it.

Even though this isn't what was asked, I'd like to chime in for a different recommendation: Aerobask's DA-50RG. All the same avionics of the DA-62 but the unobstructed view of a single prop aircraft. It's one of my favourite aircraft to fly in XP.

I appreciate your feedback Malaromane, and you have a valid point. unfortunately for my taste the DA-50RG is the ugliest of all Diamonds or any GA airplane I have seen due to it's un-sexy cowling. 🤣
