I wish I knew how to tell you what is the content of the RXP log files

Please, open the RXP GTN User's Manual and look in the "Troubleshooting" section for more information about these. Once you've located the files, you can open them up in notepad or any other text editor, then copy the text content and paste it into your message here.

Without the information contained in the log files it will be hard to know what is happening on your system otherwise.

Hello,

I'm experiencing the same and look forward to advice on this.

@Gene Comroe @tcasey Thank you for the log file.

It shows for both of you, your anti-virus as quarantined our file:

C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\rxpGtnSim32.dll

Please cross check your anti-virus for any intercepted 'rxp' file and whether there is any "restore" or "remove from quarantine" options.

Restored xpGtnSim32.dll from antivirus but still getting the same log.  I also updated the Garmin trainer .  What is the "A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active., code: 000036b8" ?

Thanks in advance.

The log file is indicating the following:

"check if file is missing or your antivirus: C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\rxpGtnSim32.dll "

there are two files in this folder: rxpGtnSim32.dll and rxpGtnSim64.dll

Both must have the same version number 2.5.28.0 (right click each file, properties, version)

You not only have to restore the file, but also exclude it from your anti-virus scan otherwise the next time it will quarantine it again.

I do not understand what to do; I looked at windows defender and did not see any files matching this description; please walk me through this.

If window 10

Windows security/

virus & threat protection/

protections history

I did it with same result. Interestingly the Garmin 530/430 comes up in the default 172, but not the GTN

This is what I got under Affected Items: file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\GTN Simulation\X-Plane\bin\rxpGtnSim32.dll

This is a backup copy but it is not directly used at runtime. If this one is quarantined it shouldn't detract the plugin from running.

The plugin is using this copy instead: C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\rxpGtnSim32.dll

The later is the one missing reported in the log files.

You have to un-quarantine the file but also let Windows Defender know to leave it alone.

The procedure is laid out clearly, albeit lengthily here:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/microsoft-defender-antivirus/microsoft-defender-security-center-antivirus#exclusions

When I open the link and tried to follow the instructions the quarantined folder I think was the folderC:\genec\Downloads\ProgramData

Do I remove this and if so what do I do next; if not what?

I added the link to the exclusion as a process after it said that the  path as folder or a file did not exist. I then started x-plane but got the same result. What did I do wrong?

This might be a good step forward, but this opens the process (which process did you exclude?) and therefore any file this process could load.

This is not the recommended way. Really just take your time and follow step 1. When you're confident you're done with step 1, then proceed with step 2, etc...

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/microsoft-defender-antivirus/microsoft-defender-security-center-antivirus#exclusions

There is no way to get wrong with the Microsoft document, it is really 1,2,3,4,5.

See the example below with GNS V2 (rxpGnsSim##.dll) and GTN (rxpGtnSim##.dll) excluded files, and RealityXP excluded folder:
