Nevertheless, suffice to say to add insult to the injury, or the reverse depending, my account has been forbidden to post new content in their forums for a few days... Seems to be a lot of that going on in the world lately...if we ban something that means it doesn't exist...lol. The effort to avoid the world as it is must really be exhausting. Another thing I find interesting is the willingness of companies to knowingly alienate half of their market! Leads one to conclude they think they have a monopoly. i7-6700k • Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 • 32GB DDR4 2666 • EVGA FTW ULTRA RTX3080 12GB
October 5, 20214 yr I thought things were strict around here in the past but the MSFS official forums feel more like a state run communist website. Cheers, Andy.
November 8, 20214 yr Here are my two cents: At least in my perspective, Asobo/Microsoft seem to be less active and/or responsive to feature additions or requests, whether it's out of spite or it's because they don't care about developers, I have no idea. My only issue with this is that most people in the community seem to not care, they usually shrug it off or try to validate Asobo's decisions of doing certain things, purely because "they made MSFS2020". But when you have a community who accepts everything that Asobo does, then you're going to get a lot of things not being done. For one thing, a lot of simconnect features, or literally just simconnect in general, is (from what I hear) not as malleable or open to niche software packages that something FSX or P3D would've been able to do. Camera API, something that EZDok and Chaseplane both require, is not possible. 2D Panels, gone. A lot of backend structure is simply just stripped, whether that's to control 3rd party developers, or to appeal to the masses by saying "our sim is so good, you won't need XYZ addon!", who knows. And from most of the people I talk to, they simply just don't know this. I obviously don't expect a consumer to have the knowledge of a developer, because if that was the case then this who schpiel would have never happened. But obviously if people don't know about this, then there won't be any incentive for Asobo/MS to do anything about it. They really do intend on pandering to the consumers, which I understand; making a simulator where "it's so good you don't need a camera addon, so why bother adding a camera API?" might be enticing to a consumer, but it is not to developers. Virtuali, //42, EZDok, RXP, AIG, etc all companies who fill certain niches, are having some trouble (sometimes A LOT) from what i've seen in the developer forums. Either certain simconnect events are not documented, some don't work as intended, and some aren't in the sim at all. And while it may be the situation of "eh, it's a bug, I can just break my back to work around it", I don't see how that is good for the developers or the simulator at all. I remember a FlyByWire developer complaining about the rudimentary implementation of a WXR/TERR radar, saying how the depiction is completely incorrect, tilt would sometimes bug out the range, etc. And while I don't expect the base simulator to have a RealityXP WX500 or Milviz Weather Radar-type quality, I do expect the ability to interface and manipulate such features, because it wasn't designed to be perfect. Of course however, there isn't any way to change it. MSFS 2020 really started to strangle the necks of developers, and unless Asobo decides to actually use their SDK to, you know, develop? then I honestly wouldn't hold my breath for them to do anything, because I'll end up suffocating.
February 21, 20224 yr Just a little Question. Since there are some working Solutions out for MSFS, even with VC integration. Is there hope that we will see a RealityXP Version soon? 🙂
